The Office of Lawyers Professional Responsibility (OLPR), located in downtown St. Paul, seeks a temporary, full?time Law Clerk. The OLPR handles ethics complaints against licensed attorneys. This position supports the work of the Office by performing legal research and writing and limited complaint investigations. Work is performed under the supervision of an attorney. This is a temporary, full-time summer position (approximately May – August). Example of Duties The following are examples of major job duties expected for this position to perform. Assignment of duties may change to meet office demands.

Interview complainants, respondents, and third parties as assigned. Analyze documents and identify what additional evidence is necessary to meet applicable standard of proof for misconduct. Research and analyze case law and statutes pertaining to the underlying substantive area of law. Such other duties as assigned. Typical Qualifications Below are the past experiences that will enable success in the role. For education requirements listed, the equivalent number of years of related experience may serve as a substitute.


Minimum Requirements

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and current enrollment in and completion of at least one year of law school training at an accredited law school. What You Will Bring

Excellent research and writing skills. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Skill in operating a personal computer with word processing and legal research software. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, with a diverse group with people. Salary
The starting hourly rate for this position is $23.60 - $24.84 for external hires, with a full future earning potential of $49,277 - $54,434 annually. This position is exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is eligible for State of MN employee benefits.

This is a temporary, full-time summer position (approximately May – August). The position is eligible for hybrid work, with in-person work required, as needed, to accommodate assignments and business need.
