Description The department of Community Corrections and Rehabilitation (DOCCR) is looking to fill one or more Probation/Parole Officers positions in the Electronic Home Monitoring (EHM) unit . These positions are open to different levels of experience/qualifications and could be hired into the Senior PO or Career PO level depending on related experience of the candidate. These positions will provide supervision to all EHM clients. These positions will work towards client change as well as victim and public safety through a combination of client assessments, individualized case planning, and supervision strategies matched to client need and risk.

Probation/Parole Officer, Career salary: $ 67,854.17 - $ 101,781.26 Annually Location and hours: These positions are located onsite at the Client and Community Restoration building located at, 3000 North 2nd Street, Minneapolis, MN 55411. Work hours and days are awarded based on bargaining seniority. Based on current requirements hires must reside in or relocate to Minnesota or Wisconsin. About This Position Type These are full time, benefit earning positions.

In This Position, You Will Manage both pre- and post-sentenced clients who are court ordered to Electronic Home Monitoring (EHM). Maintain contact standards, including field/home/treatment visits, while supporting clients in working towards positive change, promoting community safety and reducing the risk of recidivism. Evaluate client risk and needs utilizing objective assessments and other screening instruments; interpret and assess the information to develop and adjust supervision and/or case plans. Promote client skill building by use of demonstrated proficiency and Evidence Based Practices (EBP). Provide tools and treatment through an ongoing collaborative, person-centered, and strength-based relationship with the client to help build a support system. Address compliance issues and follow up with the Adult Correctional Facility, Juvenile Detention Center, Adult and Juvenile Probation. Prepare a variety of reports regarding the EHM caseloads, utilization, and other EHM data. Provide input for policy and procedure changes and participate in internal and external committees. Coach client compliance with court - and/or Department of Corrections - ordered conditions. Individuals hired at the Senior PO level must operate with limited oversight and demonstrate an ability to actively case manage more complex cases, independently developing/adjusting supervision and/or case plans and defending decisions independently in Court, and perform the duties listed above. Individuals hired at the Career PO level must demonstrate an ability to operate independently with the most complex cases within the unit, are proficient with correctional Evidence Based Practices, and may stand in for a Corrections Unit Supervisor (CUS) to coach Senior- and PO-level peers on their work assignments requiring higher level functions. Need to have: For hire as Probation/Parole Officer, Senior, one of the following: Associates degree in any field and six or more years full-time equivalent paid experience with clients served by the justice system or human services. Bachelor's degree in non-related field and four or more years of relevant full-time equivalent paid or volunteer work experience with clients served by the justice system or human services. Bachelor's degree in sociology, social work, criminal justice, psychology, counseling, law enforcement, education, or a related field, and three or more years of relevant full-time equivalent paid or volunteer work experience with clients served by in the justice system or human services. Master's degree or higher in sociology, social work, criminal justice, psychology, counseling, law enforcement, education, or a related field; including completion of a supervised clinical field work training/internship (if required by degree program); and one or more years of relevant full-time equivalent paid or volunteer work experience with clients served by the justice system or human services. Note: The Evidence Based Practice Corrections Professional Certificate may be substituted for one year of relevant experience. For hire as Probation/Parole Officer, Career, one of the following: Associates degree in any field and eight or more years of relevant full-time equivalent paid or volunteer work experience with clients served by the justice system or human services. Bachelor's degree in non-related field and six or more years of relevant full-time equivalent paid or volunteer work experience with clients served by the justice system or human services. Bachelor's degree in sociology, social work, criminal justice, psychology, counseling, law enforcement, education, or a related field, a nd five or more years of relevant full-time equivalent paid or volunteer work experience with clients served by the justice system or human services. Master's degree or higher in sociology, social work, criminal justice, psychology, counseling, law enforcement, education, or a related field; including completion of a supervised clinical field work training/internship (if required by the degree program); and three or more years of relevant full-time equivalent paid or volunteer work experience with clients served by the justice system or human services. Note: The Evidence Based Practice Corrections Professional Certificate may be substituted for one year of relevant experience. Nice To Have Experience: Working as a probation/parole officer or case management assistant. Creating written reports for the court. Interpreting and administering client risk and needs assessments. Knowledge of: CSTS (Corrections Services Technology Solutions), MGA (MN Government Access), ICOTS, Statewide Supervision (S3), and other related systems. Electronic Home Monitoring equipment and technology. Case management and organizational skills, intervention strategies, as well as an understanding of the criminal justice system and computer proficiency. Prior Level of Service/Case Management Inventory (LS/CMI), motivational interviewing and cognitive skills training. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
