Job Summary
Network Engineer that has passion to implement network infrastructure and security solutions at the client locations primarily using Fortinet products.
Provide advanced troubleshooting skills to resolve issues with networking and security systems.
Design and implement new networks, as well as make changes to existing networks, to ensure the stability, performance, reliability, and security of the network.
Recommend improvements, design solutions and integration solutions for networking and collaboration for customers.
Maintain managed firewall, network monitoring and server monitoring both on and off-site using FortiGates, Cisco Meraki, and SolarWinds.
Provide documentation on Initial configuration of systems and troubleshooting of processes to all members of IT team.
Ensure network, system and data availability and integrity through preventative maintenance and upgrades with minimum downtime.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide strong hands-on experience with Fortinet firewall configuration and administration. Experience with Palo Alto/ASA/etc. firewall technologies is a plus.
Validates the client security networking environment by reviewing system configuration; directing and/or undertaking system installation; defining, documenting, and enforcing best practice standards.
Maximizes network security by monitoring security tools; troubleshooting network problems and outages; supporting upgrades; collaborating with 3rd party support resources and fellow IT engineers on network security optimization.
Secures network system by communicating policies, defining access practices.
Provides training and knowledge sharing for clients with varying levels of IT knowledge and competence.
Works closely with other

departments/organizations

and collaborates with other IT staff.
Develops and provides guidance on multi-year roadmap for network architecture with a focus on security. Forecasts useful life and replacement planning for all core network infrastructure related to security.
Documents network problems and resolution for client reference.
Communicate approaches for network user account management, permissions, email, anti-virus, anti-spam, intrusion detection.
Oversee updates/patches for network devices, software, and network security.
Requires a thorough knowledge of networking essentials.
Strong analytical abilities and professional office experience needed.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively as part of a cross-functional IT service team.
Required

Experience/Education
Ten years of designing, implementing, and managing large scale networks
Six years of experience working with firewall security solutions
Extensive experience with implementing Fortinet product portfolio.
Cisco CCNP Route/Switch certification or CCDA
A high proficiency in troubleshooting network issues is a must
Extensive datacenter experience
Experience with Cisco LAN/WAN solutions
Advanced understanding of wide area network concepts such as site-to-site/policy-based/route-based IPsec VPNs, MPLS, VPLS, and data center interconnect technologies.
In-depth understanding of the following technologies STP, VLANs, SVIs, VRF-lite, NAT, ACLs, DHCP, DNS, Virtualization.
Experience configuring networking

hardware/protocols:

TCP/IP, Layer3, Layer2, DNS, QoS, BGP, VRRP, HSRP, Spanning-Tree, VLAG, OTV and MPLS.
Skilled in the use of Microsoft Visio - Logical and Physical diagrams.
Candidate must be accustomed to pre-building test and POC configurations in a lab environment.
Excellent written and oral communications skills
Preferred Experience
Fortinet NSE7 Certification
Palo Alto and Cisco firewall experience
Experience with Fortinet product portfolio beyond just the Fortigate firewall including Secure SDWAN, FortiSASE, FortiGuard IPS, FortiProxy, FortiMail, etc.
Understanding of packet-level performance and application troubleshooting with tools such as Wireshark.
Strong understanding of VDOM architecture in Fortinet firewalls
Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements
Physical environmental factors of this position include those found in typical business office environment or home office environment.
Requires use of general office equipment and personal computer equipment.
Ability to travel. Various means of travel may be required, including auto and air travel. This position requires travel:

Occasionally
May be required to work irregular schedules including but not limited to as applicable: Nights, weekends, holidays, on-call, and/or overtime.
