Job Description and Duties
Under direct supervision of the Correctional Plant Manager II, the Equipment Maintenance Supervisor, CF is responsible to oversee all aspects of the CMC Garage, including the supervision of the repair and maintenance of automotive and other mechanical equipment; submit purchase documents and evaluate the usage of current inventory; required to maintain order and supervise the conduct of garage staff and incarcerated persons; to protect these persons, others, and/or property; prevent escapes and injury by these persons and others; maintains the security of the working areas, materials and tools; inspects premises and search incarcerated persons for contraband such as weapons or illegal drugs; trains, instructs, leads and supervises staff, and performs other work as required.
Individuals who are eligible for a Training and Development assignment may also be considered for this position.

CMC has two physically separated housing complexes, commonly referred to as "East" and "West". An emphasis is placed on providing all incarcerated persons with programs for self-improvement. These programs include academic and vocational education, work skills in prison industries and incarcerated persons self-help groups.
The Level III housing complex (East), which houses medium security general population incarcerated persons, is divided into four facilities. Each facility has its own dining room, classrooms, athletic fields, and two three-story housing units. The East housing complex has a fully licensed Correctional Treatment Center as well as a fully licensed 50 bed Mental Health Crisis Unit.
The West housing complex contains a Level I camp program for fire suppression, conservation, and other community service work.

Candidates new to CDCR or the Division of Juvenile Justice are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.
