Vice President of Programs & Development The Vice President of Programs and Development will play a critical role in advancing the mission and goals of OCH by overseeing the development, implementation, and evaluation of programs and initiatives aimed at enhancing healthcare services and community outreach. This position requires a strategic leader with a strong background in program management, development, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
This role is on-site in Sacramento, CA (95811), some work from home flexibility.
Essential Functions Strategic Planning Develop and implement strategic plans for program development and expansion to align with OCH's mission and goals. Identify opportunities for new program development and enhancement of existing programs to meet the evolving needs of the community. Program Development and Management Lead the design, implementation, and evaluation of healthcare programs and initiatives focused on improving patient outcomes, access to care, and community health-including a street medicine program. Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and standards governing FQHC programs. Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to integrate programs seamlessly into existing services. Grant Writing and Fundraising Grant Leadership: Lead and manage the grants department and staff. Work collaboratively with CSuite and other leaders. Grant Opportunity Identification: Research and identify grant opportunities from various sources, including government agencies, private foundations, and corporate donors. Target opportunities that align with OCH's mission and goals. Grant Proposal Development: Craft compelling grant proposals and funding requests tailored to the requirements and preferences of potential funders. Articulate the need for support, outline program objectives, and demonstrate impact. Program Development Support: Working collaboratively with program staff and leadership, provide support in developing innovative program initiatives and refining project plans to align with grant funding opportunities. Donor Cultivation and Stewardship: Building and maintaining relationships with donors, foundations, and community partners will be a key focus. Engage with prospective donors to introduce them to our organization's mission and impact, cultivate their interest and support through personalized communications and interactions, and steward existing relationships to ensure ongoing engagement and investment in our work. Diversification of Funding Sources: In collaboration with the development team, you will work to diversify our funding sources by identifying new opportunities for support and expanding our network of donors and partners. By cultivating relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, you will reduce our reliance on any single funding stream and enhance our financial sustainability. Grant Reporting and Compliance: Ensure that all grant-funded programs are effectively tracked, monitored, and evaluated in accordance with funder requirements. This includes timely and accurate reporting on program outcomes and financial expenditures, as well as compliance with grant terms and conditions to maintain positive relationships with funders and uphold OCH's reputation for accountability and transparency. Additional Duties Stakeholder Engagement Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including clinical staff, administrative teams, and CSuite members, to ensure alignment of programmatic goals with organizational objectives. Collaborate with community organizations, government agencies, and other external partners to coordinate services, leverage resources, and address community health needs effectively. Performance Monitoring and Reporting Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the impact and effectiveness of programs. Conduct regular program evaluations to assess outcomes, identify areas for improvement, and make data-driven decisions. Prepare comprehensive reports for internal and external stakeholders, including funders, board of directors, and regulatory agencies. Leadership and Team Development Provide leadership and direction to program staff, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing team capable of executing programmatic goals and objectives. Promote professional development opportunities and encourage staff growth and advancement within the organization. Minimum Requirements Expertise in the following areas, typically gained from 10+ years in leadership roles in healthcare or nonprofit roles: Program management, especially multiple programs with diverse deliverables, effectively executing on strategic planning, goal achievement, and reporting. Fundraising programs including grant development. Staff management including selection, evaluation, and leadership development. Being a role model in interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills Proven track record of successful grant writing, fundraising, and securing funding from diverse sources. Demonstrated ability to think strategically, solve complex problems, and drive results. Proficiency in data analysis and program evaluation methodologies. Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in healthcare delivery and community engagement.
