DevelopmentArab American National MuseumJob Summary: Under general supervision, the Development Officer uses specialized knowledge in fundraising and development obtained through experience and/or formal training to provide support and manage activity to ensure development goals and objectives for assigned functional area are attained. The Development Officer is responsible for achieving fundraising goals and cultivating and nurturing relationships with current and new donors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Maintain development functions, including annual giving, appeal mailings, gift processing and fundraising eventsCultivate, steward, and facilitate solicitation of donors for assigned areaCultivate and nurture relationships with current and potential individual donors, corporate, and foundation prospectsImplement sponsorship efforts for major fundraising events for assigned areaOversee all gifts, acknowledgements and other constituent-related information in the Development donor database for assigned areaExecute all direct mail and online fundraising appeals (e.g., thank you letters, invoices, sponsorship follow up and database updates)Work with Communications department to develop and implement a comprehensive marketing and public relations strategy to support fundraising effortsMonitor all financial contributions and donations and ensure accuracy of records, receipts and databasesOversee individual ticket sale process for major fundraising eventsReconcile allocations in donor database vs. allocations in Fiscal department to ensure consistencyMaintain donor database to ensure software is functioning properly and train other donor database users (including, but not limited to preparing queries, exporting information, running reports, etc.)May create, maintain and analyze organization merchant accountsMay conduct Annual Employee United Way and Annual Fund campaignMay make travel arrangements for employees within the organization as neededMay create and review content for special event marketingMaintain currency in fundraising and development techniquesOperate standard office equipment and use required software applicationsPerform other duties and responsibilities as assignedKnowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of:
Intermediate concepts, principles and practices of fundraising/developmentDonor relations and stewardshipDatabase architecture and developmentBlackbaud (Altru) software is preferredSkill in:
Operating standard office equipment and using required software applications for program area and other applications, including Microsoft OfficeAbility to:
