Make a difference as a Vice President of Human Resources As the Vice President of Human Resources at YMCA of Greater Erie, you will play a crucial role in supporting the impactful work of a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening the community through various initiatives. What we're looking for in a Vice President of Human Resources To excel as the Vice President of Human Resources at the YMCA of Greater Erie, candidates must possess a diverse range of skills and expertise. Proficiency in overseeing compensation and benefit programs, HR and payroll systems, and employee records is essential to ensure operational accuracy and efficiency. A comprehensive understanding of current employment laws and regulations, coupled with the ability to foster staff development through feedback, coaching, and training initiatives, is crucial for success in this role. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are vital for providing guidance on workplace matters and building relationships with compliance agencies, legal counsel, and professional networks. The capability to create inclusive organizational policies and structures that promote equity and remove barriers is key to fostering a diverse and supportive work environment.
Additionally, experience in facilitating recruitment programs, assisting with hiring processes, and collaborating with board committees to implement policies and strategic objectives is highly valuable for this position.
Knowledge and skills required for the position are:
Bachelor's degree in business, human resources or equivalent; Master's degree preferred. YMCA Organizational Leader certification preferred. Five or more years of professional experience in all aspects of human resources management and staff development and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge and professional experience in planning and policy, talent management, selection, compensation, benefits, training and staff development, employee relations, and performance management. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community. Current knowledge and understanding of regulations, industry trends, current practices, new developments, and applicable laws regarding human resources. Proficiency in business and human resources related computer applications, which may include talent management systems, time and attendance systems, etc. Senior human resources certification (SPHR or equivalent) preferred. A medical examination, including drug testing, may be required after an offer of employment has been made. Evidence from a physician that a potential employee can physically perform the specified job requirements may be required. Act 33 and Act 34 Clearances are required. In some cases, an FBI clearance may be required. An employee is not permitted to begin work until he/she has mailed his/her clearance requests, and signed the Employee Disclosure Statement.
