Ensure the highest technical and scientific standards in laboratory operations to achieve reliable and accurate test results, complying with state, federal (CLIA), and College of American Pathologists (CAP) regulations.
Outcomes:
Technical Oversight
: Provide oversight and ensure technical accuracy in all laboratory testing, including selection and verification of testing methodologies.
Quality Control
: In collaboration with our Quality Systems Manager, establish and maintain a robust quality control program that ensures all analytical performance meets set standards.
Proficiency Testing
: Manage and respond to proficiency testing, ensuring compliance with HHS guidelines and timely submission of results.
Problem Resolution
: Identify and resolve technical problems promptly, ensuring no disruption in laboratory operations.
Regulatory Compliance
: Ensure all lab operations comply with federal and state regulations, and maintain documentation for audits and reviews.
Staff Competency
: Oversee the training and competency evaluation of lab staff to ensure proficiency in test procedures and compliance with laboratory standards.
Competencies:
Expertise in Laboratory Science
: Deep understanding of laboratory operations and scientific principles relevant to medical testing.
Leadership and Supervision
: Strong leadership skills with the ability to oversee laboratory operations and manage technical staff.
Problem-solving Skills
: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to address and resolve technical issues swiftly.
Communication Skills
: Effective communicator capable of instructing and providing feedback to laboratory staff and communicating technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
Regulatory Knowledge
: Comprehensive knowledge of CLIA and CAP regulations, and ability to ensure laboratory compliance.
Technical Writing
: Skilled in creating clear, accurate, and concise Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), validation plans, and validation reports that meet regulatory standards and are easily understood within the laboratory environment.
Regulatory Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science.
Minimum of 8 years of laboratory training or experience in the designated specialty or subspecialty.
Certification by an accredited body such as the American Board of Clinical Chemistry (ABCC) or American Board of Medical Microbiology (ABMM) is preferred.
