This goal breaks down into four important components: 1) to teach economics to undergraduates in a manner that will introduce them vigorously to its broad scope; 2) to offer scientific and professional training to graduate students to prepare them for teaching and research careers in the fields of microeconomics, macroeconomics, econometrics, and applied microeconomics (labor, health, education, and development) and industrial organization; 3) to carry out cutting-edge research in these areas to be published in professional journals; 4) to provide consulting and administrative support services to the department and the economics profession as well as to the university, local community, state, and nation.
Position Summary The Economics Department of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill invites applications for a position as Teaching Assistant Professor to teach in our undergraduate program, with appointment beginning July 1, 2024. This is a 9-month, 6-courseload position over a 5-year term with the possibility of renewal. We are especially interested in someone with the experience and excitement to effectively manage a course load with a few large enrollment courses (200-400 students) with the remainder being smaller enrollment (~50 students) courses. The Department of Economics is in the College of Arts and Sciences. It confers BA, BS, MA and PhD ( STEM classified) degrees and minors in Entrepreneurship and Politics, Philosophy & Economics. The department currently has 34 full-time faculty members, 1,250 undergraduate majors, and 80 doctoral students. More information about the Economics Department is available at .
