CAP is excited to announce that we are hiring an experienced Employment & Benefits Specialist at our Vancouver Office . The SW Washington Employment & Benefits Specialist (EBS) works with the staff and management of Cascade AIDS Project (CAP) to provide high-quality, coordinated, strengths-based social services consistent with the agency's mission. The individual works on Cascade AIDS Project's SW Washington team to provide individuals living with HIV and those at high risk of HIV through the continuum of HIV-related and other relevant systems of care. This requires maintaining an awareness of cultural challenges and developing effective relationships with a diverse client population and community partners throughout the service and surrounding areas.
Responsibilities include: assisting with the development and marketing of program materials; maintaining and developing new relationships with employers and community employment service providers; facilitating HIV-specific and other employment related workshops both in a group and in individual settings; identifying and publicizing community resources; assessing clients for job-readiness; assisting clients with resumes, cover letters, applications, unemployment claims, and soft skills development; supporting a standardized process for clients seeking assistance with disability applications; completing forms and entering data into the agency database in a timely and accurate manner; organizing and tracking phone access program; and performing other necessary office tasks. The Employment & Benefits Specialist works collaboratively and communicates effectively with clients, volunteers, CAP staff and community partners. Other duties as assigned.
The person in this position is stationed in the CAP Vancouver office and will travel to Cowlitz county once a week to provide employment services at our Longview office. Other instances of travel throughout the Clark, Skamania, Cowlitz, Wahkiakum, and Multnomah County service area for meetings and client home-and-community-visits may occur. Occasional evening and weekend work, a state-issued driver's license and access to a personal vehicle are required.
NOTE: This is a non-management, union-represented position. The compensation, benefits, and conditions of work for this position are collectively bargained.
COMPENSATION: $22.04 Hourly
Scope of the work Work collaboratively with Medical Case Managers, CAP's Housing and Prevention Programs, and other service providers to develop individual client goal plans and provide support to clients in carrying out their goal plans Assists in the planning, coordination, implementation, delivery and evaluation of CAP's employment program to ensure quality of program and its delivery Establish and maintain professional relationships with community workforce development and area service providers to create new employment resources and partnerships that best support clients and the overall agency Assist in the development of culturally appropriate programs and the recruitment of clients for those services and programs Assist clients with identifying and navigating community resources that help promote employment readiness and success in both group and one-on one settings Present to clients, staff, external partners and employers on issues affecting PLWHA and people at high risk of HIV returning to work In consultation with SW Washington Program Management, continue to research comparable models of employment services for PLWHA to ensure innovation and effectiveness of program Assist clients with writing resumes, cover letters, completing applications both on paper and online Assist clients with unemployment insurance claims and appeals Assist clients with Social Security Disability application preparation Attend trainings and educational opportunities to remain current on employment, equity, case management, HIV, and other relevant professional issues Design and produce written materials in support of the program either as an individual or as a member of the team Meet all contract requirements and provide supporting documentation, including program performance data and assisting with reporting requirements, as required Provide accurate, complete, and current written and database records/files Participate in appropriate community, department, and agency meetings as assigned Work collaboratively with and communicate effectively with CAP staff, volunteers, community partners, and clients Assist in the development and implementation of equity and inclusion initiatives within the department Support the implementation of CAP's organizational equity initiatives Participate and engage in equity-based trainings, workshops, and team discussions Model behavior supporting this equity and inclusion work to staff, community partners, clients, participants, and patients, as appropriate Other duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree in human/social services field work (social work, public or community health, psychology) and one year of related experience or at least two years of related experience. Demonstrated computer and keyboard proficiency using Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook) and working knowledge of the internet Excellent written and oral communication skills Successful experience working with ethnic, racial, economic and sexually diverse populations and persons who have experienced homelessness, persons with a mental illness and/or substance use issues Desire and Ability to engage in equity and inclusion initiatives and discussions in the workplace, including but not limited to: engaging in training workshops, team and department meetings, and critical discussions for how CAP can better support the communities that we serve Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with community stakeholders Excellent organizational and time management skills Ability to work independently with accountability and exercise sound judgment, discretion and professionalism at all times Available to work occasional evenings and weekends A valid driver's license and access to a personal vehicle. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Masters degree in human/social services field (social work, public or community health, psychology) or related field Verbal and written fluency in Spanish or Ukrainian Experience working with people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) and/or people with disabilities, chronic illness and/or other barriers to employment Lived experience of systemic oppression and non-dominant cultures.
