Overview:
The Survey Crew Member is responsible for assisting the Survey Crew Leader in conducting surveys of all types. The Survey Crew Member must be able to communicate clearly and follow the directions of the Survey Crew Leader. Critical thinking is necessary to ensure efficiency and accuracy of work being performed.


Duties and Responsibilities
Understanding of the types of surveys and the purpose of each including topographic, boundary, subdivision, ALTA, construction layout, and as-built surveys
Understand basic survey terminology and concepts
Operation and basic maintenance of survey instruments such as levels, robotic total stations, data collectors, GPS, and other standard survey equipment
Adherence to company safety policies along with use of supplied personal protective equipment, (PPE)
Interpret construction plans, and assist in the Survey Crew Leader with construction layout
Learn and understand survey procedures and standards
Follow directions of Survey Crew Leader and other team members
Act as a positive representative of the company and its core values
Perform other duties as assigned

Work performed in the field most of the time. Work conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid temperatures that sometimes border on extreme. Some lifting (up to 50 lbs.) may be required as needed.
Requires long-term standing and perhaps repetitive motions. Will be required to use your hands to handle; reach, climb or balance; crouch, stoop, crawl, kneel and sit. May be required to drive hundreds of miles per day or stay out of town during the week. Will regularly lift/move/shake up to 40 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60-80 pounds.
Minimal work performed in a general office environment where work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous conditions in the office.
Regularly required to meet tight deadlines and balance unyielding client expectations. Fast paced, multi-tasking required to provide the high level of client service required.

Years of Experience
oField 1 to 2 years
High school diploma or GED
Prior Survey Instrument Operator experience required
Familiar with field procedures for performing boundary, topographic, ALTA/ACSM land title surveys preferred
