The Operational Excellence team acts as a Center of Excellence (CoE) within the business, and assists in the identification, measurement, monitoring, and management of Operational Risks related to the business products, processes, and initiatives. Operational risk is the risk to the current or projected business objectives arising from inadequate or failed internal processes or systems, human errors or misconduct, or adverse external events.For these areas of the business, the Operational Excellence team leads governance and implementation of requirements related to several large-scale programs like New Initiatives, Process Risk Self-Assessment (PRSA) Controls and Testing, Third Party Risk, Internal Audit/Regulatory Exams, Information Security, Privacy, Financial Reporting, Physical Security and Business Continuity/Resiliency. In line with Amex's "three lines of defense" approach to risk management, the FLoD Operational Excellence team actively works with Second Line of Defense (such as Info Security, Compliance, Privacy) and Third Line of Defense (Internal Audit) teams to ensure adequate implementation of risk management framework requirements.TheSenior Analyst, Operational Excellencerole will assist in providing first line of defense operational risk activities for Amex Digital Labs.Key activities of the role will include:Support of several large-scale Operational Risk programs like New Initiatives Approval/Risk Assessment, Third Party Lifecycle Management, Corrective Action/Loss Event Resolution and Process Risk Self-Assessment (PRSA)Be a key partner is developing operationally sound new products and servicesDesign methodology, process, and governance framework for Third Parties supporting Digital Labs ensuring operational activities are executed in accordance with policies, standards, procedures, and regulatory guidanceBe a trusted advisor for the Amex Digital Labs teams; helping enable successful launch of business initiatives with strong preventative and detective controlsPartner with Compliance and General Counsel Office to ensure Amex Digital Labs initiatives and processes comply with applicable laws, regulations, and policies, with effective controls and rigorous testing to prove complianceSupport process improvement activities to streamline efforts, reduce pain-points and execute on automation ideasAssist in identifying trends, themes and tendencies that indicate emerging operational risks by analyzing data and trendsEffectively communicate learnings to business partners to drive necessary responses and actionQualifications:Independent, self-motivated, with an ability to adapt and be flexible in a team environmentWorking knowledge or desire to learn about operational risk processesAbility to manage multiple streams of work concurrently and to prioritize effectivelyProficiency with Microsoft Office, especially MS Excel and PowerPointCapability of translating data-driven insights into actionable resultsAbility to drive change, influence without authority and deliver resultsStrategic thinking, logical, consultative, and adaptive to changeAbility to work independentlyPositive energy, collaboration and excellent communication skills are a mustDigital product and/or payment product experience preferredBachelor's in Business, Engineering or Science fields preferredSalary Range: $55,000 to $105,000 annually + bonus + benefitsThe above represents the expected salary range for this job requisition.
