Overview
The Senior HR Generalist is responsible for managing and performing a broad range of advanced and specialized HR duties in key functional areas of human resources. They act as an internal consultant and point of contact to operate and promote HR services and programs that align with corporate goals and strategic and operational objectives. The Senior HR Generalist provides value as a key business partner by supporting and advising management and staff members on sound human resources policies and procedures that align with best practices and comply with business conduct standards and legal and regulatory requirements.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties
Manage and perform a broad range of advanced and specialized HR duties in key functional areas of human resources to ensure legal and regulatory compliance. This includes but is not limited to HR compliance, recruitment and staffing, onboarding, employee benefits and wellness, compensation, performance management, employee engagement, employee relations, training, professional development, HRIS technology, and payroll administration.

Manage processes, procedures, and projects related to key functional areas of human resources.

Operate and serve as point of contact to promote HR services and programs and special projects in partnership with the VP of HR & Compliance and/or Senior Leadership Team. Includes the development and design of HR services, programs, policies, procedures, and processes as appropriate.

Interpret and advise on HR policies and procedures and the employee handbook, including handling and resolving HR-related issues, or escalating to VP of HR & Compliance as appropriate.

Act as an internal consultant to provide support and guidance to management, staff members, and intra- and inter-departmental peers on a variety of HR-related functions and matters, including handling complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues. This includes but is not limited to reasonable accommodations, leaves of absence, disability claims, and workers compensation.

Act as an internal consultant to assist with employee relations issues, including investigating, counseling, assisting in resolving conflicts or issues, and working with outside legal counsel as needed.

Facilitate recruitment and staffing processes, includes developing job descriptions, recruiting plans, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and coaching managers on best practices.

Manage benefits administration program, including enrollments, changes, terminations, billing reconciliations, open enrollment, wellness programs, and assisting staff with questions and issues.

Serve as plan administrator/co-plan administrator of health and welfare benefits and retirement plans.

Work with VP of Human Resources & Compliance to oversee the organizations performance management, compensation, and job classifications with a focus on establishing fair, competitive programs and to ensure compliance with legal requirements.

Manage various employee engagement initiatives and staff events.

Work with the VP of HR & Compliance on training and professional development programs, includes conducting internal and/or external training.

Advise and provide training to management and staff on HR-related legal and regulatory compliance with all federal, state, and local laws.

Manage all aspects of the HRIS and other HR technology-based systems, including but not limited to evaluating and recommending HR systems; managing system implementations, migrations, and upgrades; overseeing configurations and security controls, and entering and maintaining employee data.

Prepare various employee communications regarding HR services, programs, initiatives, and matters.

Analyze HR metrics, includes identifying trends, gathering data, performing analysis, developing reports, and presenting findings and/or recommendations related to HR functional areas.

Manage HR documentation, files, and records in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

Responsible for staying up-to-date on HR laws, trends and new developments as well as completing continuing education courses and training to maintain expert-level HR knowledge and certification(s).

Provide support and promote a wide range of intradepartmental services and programs to staff members, including serving on committees and taskforces.

Manage annual expenditures to human resources budget within guidelines.

Maintain relationships and work with internal staff members, vendors, carriers, and partners as needed.

Travel as required.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Secondary Responsibilities and Duties
Provide as a back-up and support intra-or inter-departmental peers.

Required Education and Experience
Bachelors degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.

Minimum of five (5) years of human resources work experience as a generalist.

Human Resources Certification, SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP or PHR/SPHR.

Technical experience with HRIS systems such as ADP Workforce Now.

Preferred Education and Experience
Payroll processing and systems experience.

Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Working knowledge of employment-related laws, legal codes, and regulations, including but not limited to FLSA, FMLA, ADA, ADEA, OSHA, EEO, PDA, EPA, Title VII etc.

Knowledge of principles, procedures, best practices, and laws in key HR functional areas.

Ability to interpret, explain, and apply laws, rules, policies, and regulations.

Ability to display knowledge of recordkeeping methods, practices, and procedures.

Knowledge of employee relations and conducting workplace investigations.

Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.

Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Strong active listening and judgement and decision-making skills.

Skilled in effective interviewing and candidate assessment techniques.

Strong knowledge of benefits administration.

Knowledge of payroll processing and administration.

Strong technical skills, experience, and familiarity with HRIS systems

Ability to organize and interpret data as well as use technical skills to prepare reports from such data.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a team member.

Strong project management skills.

Ability to develop and drive process improvement.

Excellent organizational skills, time management, and attention to detail.

Ability to multitask and to plan, organize, prioritize, and re-prioritize work which ensures timely processing and completion of work within available resources.

Ability to perform under pressure and efficiently handle stress while treating people with courtesy and respect and at the same time maintaining a professional attitude.

Ability to delegate work to others when appropriate.

Excellent customer service and verbal/written communication skills.

Ability to speak and interact with all levels within an organization and build relationships with operational managers, staff members, and diverse groups of people as well as facilitate group discussions.

Ability to facilitate effective meetings and presentations with staff members and clients.

Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and use discretion and judgment to disseminate information and maintain the confidentiality of information.

Proficient with MS Office Suite, specifically MS Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint and have the ability to quickly learn computer-based applications.
