The Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the UNC School of Medicine is recruiting a Research Assistant Professor on the fixed-term track. The successful candidate will participate in research and training activities in the De Silva Laboratory. Duties include, but are not limited to, conducting fundamental research concerning human immunology and the pathogenesis of dengue and Zika viruses. The individual will be responsible for summarizing data and presenting work at internal and external meetings. In particular, the successful candidate will be expected to collaborate with other researchers in the field, write and publish the results in scientific journals, attend conferences, and participate in preparing applications for financial support. Secondary responsibilities will include contributing to the routine maintenance of laboratory equipment and occasional supervision and training of postdoctoral fellows, students, and/or technicians. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
PhD is Microbiology, Immunology or related field. Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Expertise in molecular virology and immunology. Ability to independently design and execute experiments. Established record of peer reviewed publications. At least 5 years post-doctoral experience in academia preferred. Experience with NIH funding and submission systems preferred but not required.
