This includes Budgeting/Forecasting, overseeing accounting activities, summation and presentation of the monthly and quarterly financial results, and specific business partnering roles with Operations management. This position also plays a critical role in special projects throughout the year.This position will work onsite at our plant in Tempe, AZ.A Day in the LifeThis position offers you an opportunity to obtain Operations Finance experience at a Manufacturing Site providing critical finance activities as follows:Manufacturing Operating ResultsOversee accounting activities related to manufacturing operations, including playing a leadership role in the summation, analysis and presentation of monthly manufacturing financial results. Capture and communicate key drivers to financial results, identify risks and opportunities, and provide financial guidance and recommendations to Management on observed trends. Oversee preparation of presentation materials and present results to Site Management and Operations Finance FP&A. Business Support Support the manufacturing site to reach operational goals, such as scrap reduction, cost down initiatives, and direct labor productivity. Also support cell operating system transformation activities, financial modeling for strategic manufacturing decisions, and other activities, as required. Business PartneringKey liaison to the Operations and Value Stream leaders including oversight of the related manufacturing cost centers and close coordination with cost center managers as it relates to planning and forecasting spending.Manufacturing Planning and ForecastingAct in a leadership and coordination role as it relates to quarterly forecasting, annual operating plan (AOP), and annual standards setting processes for cost of goods sold. Interact with site management to ensure proper assumptions are made in forecasts. Review and analyze forecast to ensure reasonableness and improve forecast accuracy. Capture and maintain risks and opportunities to the forecast and necessary actions that need to occur to prevent risks and realize opportunities. Internal ControlsUnderstand and effectively apply internal control principles and objectives, including Medtronic's Key Corporate Policies. Coordinate the accuracy of data between multiple databases. Streamline systems and processes.Financial AnalysisReport to business partners in the function and the businesses based on actual, budget and forecast. Assist the team in interpreting financial results to the broader finance team and business partners. Assist in building the financial acumen of functional business partners.Project AccountingAssist our business partners with project accounting processes and workflows in planning and execution.Capital expendituresManage functional capital spend against plan and assist in evaluation of priorities against the targeted spend.Required qualificationsBachelor's Degree and a minimum of 7 years relevant finance experience or an advanced degree and a minimum of 5 years relevant finance experiencePreferred qualificationsKnowledge of general accepted accounting principles (GAAP)MBA, CPA and/or CMAExperience with GFS, Essbase, SAP, Hyperion Spend and/or CMRStrong quantitative analysis and problem solving skills Solid accounting foundation with high interest in financial modelingUnderstanding of Project AccountingPrior Finance experience in a manufacturing environmentAbout MedtronicTogether, we can change healthcare worldwide.
