The Payroll Specialist is responsible for making sure employees are paid accurately and timely. The position will assist the North America Payroll team with processing payrolls for the US and Canada in compliance with Company policies, procedures, and internal controls.
Manage, report, and process time and attendance reports verifying timesheets, payroll reports, and deduction reports to ensure data integrity and accuracy. Prepare, transmit, receive, load, and submit payrolls and/or special payrolls as required using payroll software. Conduct final payroll inspection for any identified mismatch or errors prior to payroll run. Work with Accounting to analyze and resolve general ledger differences. Perform set up, responses, and audit all garnishments and child support. Calculate final pay for termed associates and manual checks as required. Review, analyze, and verify payroll data and reports for accuracy. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local jurisdiction payroll regulations and guidelines. Support payroll tax reconciliation process. Analyze and resolve complex matters requiring comprehensive knowledge of payroll policies and procedures. Respond to questions and prepare reports as required. Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and implement new processes to streamline the payroll functions. Associate's or bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, or a related field OR a minimum of 3 years relevant experience processing a multi-state payroll for a large number of employees. 3 years of experience processing payroll using a payroll software system. Proficient computer skills using Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel. Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work with sensitive information in a confidential manner. Excellent time management and communication skills. Proven track record performing roles which require being detail-oriented, organized, analytical, and solution focused. FPC or CPP certification a plus.
