Position Overview:
We are looking for a dedicated Payroll Accountant to join our team at our company. This role is pivotal, involving collaboration with all departments within our organization. The primary responsibility of the Payroll Accountant is to efficiently process bi-weekly payrolls for approximately 250 employees. This includes handling time & attendance data from our timekeeping system, as well as meticulous reporting, reconciliation, and auditing of data. Key responsibilities also include:
- Preparing monthly payroll journal entries, encompassing payroll expenses, retirement plan expenses, benefit time accruals and adjustments, and employee expense reimbursements.
- Reconciling payroll accounts, bank statements, general ledger, and sub-ledger accounts, while adeptly resolving discrepancies.
- Developing a comprehensive understanding of the payroll database to forecast payroll expenses for board and leadership reporting.
- Providing thorough training on payroll processes and database utilization during new hire orientation and as needed for staff.
- Assisting in the preparation for annual audits, including workers' compensation, retirement plan, and financial audits.
This role demands meticulous attention to detail, proficiency in accounting principles, and adherence to company policies to ensure accurate payroll reporting and compliance. We are seeking an individual who is detail-oriented, capable of multitasking, and possesses a service-oriented attitude.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree with a minimum of two years' experience
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles
- Excellent time management skills
- Ability to independently organize work, take initiative, and meet deadlines
