The Paralegal performs Paralegal duties under the supervision of attorneys conducting legal work on behalf of the City of Portland. 
Duties include assisting in the investigation and analysis of legal claims and the preparation of cases for trial in conformance with stringent court deadlines and complex legal requirements; drafting legal and trial documents; preparing witnesses; assembling and maintaining document databases; coordinating the discovery process including, but not limited to, developing privilege logs; supervising document review and production of documents to outside parties and eDiscovery; preparing trial notebooks and exhibits; and developing and maintaining new or existing programs that benefit the City. Paralegals work in all litigation areas, including tort, employment, workers' compensation, construction and land use, as well as in the area of general advice work and public records requests. The ideal candidate is:
• An Experienced Paralegal: A professional Paralegal with at least ten years of experience performing the work of a Paralegal, with a specific focus on Litigation. Employment litigation experience is a plus.
• An Excellent Communicator: A strong communicator, both in writing and verbally, with the ability to communicate technical and non-technical information effectively with clients, witnesses, experts, and internal/external stakeholders.
• An Excellent Writer: Able to draft various documents including motions, pleadings, and discovery requests/responses.
• Organized: Able to work on a multitude of tasks and understand/react to various situations in a fast-paced environment.
• A Problem Solver: Can issue spot, identify problems early, and utilize active listening and effective communication to find resolutions.
• Detail Oriented: Strong attention to detail, long-range planning abilities, and task prioritization skills.
• Technologically Savvy: Strong with Microsoft Suite, eDiscovery databases, and trial presentation software. Experience with technology is an asset in this position. Questions?:
