The Advanced Development Center at ASML in Wilton, Connecticut, is currently seeking an Optical Data Analyst with proficiency in image processing for metrology process development of ultra-high precision optics and ceramics. Our Advanced Development Center (ADC) comprises a diverse group of engineers and scientists committed to pioneering learning loop solutions, prototyping next-generation wafer and reticle clamping systems, and industrializing prototypes that meet stringent system performance criteria.
Role and Responsibilities:
As an Optical Data Analyst, your primary responsibility will be to develop image processing, data analysis, and machine learning algorithms and software to support the development of wafer and reticle clamping systems, addressing intricate engineering challenges associated with achieving nanometer-scale precision. You will collaborate within the larger Development and Engineering (DE) sector, where the design and engineering of ASML products come to fruition.
Your duties will include:
Developing/improving image processing algorithms to extract nanometer-level information from scientific imaging equipment (e.g., interferometer, SEM, AFM, etc.).
Integrating algorithms into image processing software packages for analysis and process development cycles for engineering and manufacturing users.
Maintaining version-controlled software packages for multiple product generations.
Conducting software testing to identify application, algorithm, and software bugs.
Validating/verifying/regression/unit testing software to ensure compliance with business and technical requirements.
Utilizing machine learning models to predict trends and behaviors relating to product lifetime and manufacturing improvements.
Executing analysis, software, and systems plans to mitigate product and process risks and prevent software performance issues.
Collaborating with the design team in software analysis tool development to efficiently address difficult technical problems.
Working with database structures and leveraging capabilities to support data analysis.
Writing software scripts to search, analyze, and plot data from the database.
Supporting query code to interrogate data for manufacturing and engineering needs.
Supporting image analysis on data and deriving conclusions.
Occasional travel (up to 10%) to Europe, Asia, and within the US.
Education and Experience:
To excel in this role, you should possess experience working on high-tech products and with complex processes. As an Optical Data Analyst, you will need:
A Bachelor's Degree in Physics, Optical Engineering, or related disciplines with 5+ years of experience in developing data analytics and image processing algorithms; OR
A Master's Degree in Physics, Optical Engineering, or related disciplines with 2+ years of experience in developing data analytics and image processing algorithms; OR
A PhD in Physics, Optical Engineering, or related disciplines with research experience in developing data analytics and image processing algorithms.
Familiarity with software configuration management (e.g., Git, SVN, GitHub, Bitbucket, etc.).
Experience in scientific data analytics, development of image processing algorithms and software.
Expertise in statistics and data fitting techniques.
Clear understanding of measurement techniques (e.g., interferometry, scatterometry, optical sensors, etc.) and imaging systems (e.g., SEM, AFM, etc.).
Hands-on system integration, alignment, tooling, or testing experience with interferometers or imaging systems.
Knowledge/hands-on experience with software tools (e.g., MATLAB, Python, C/C++, etc.).
Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and oral.

Other Information:
This position is based on-site in Wilton, Connecticut, requiring onsite presence for work-related events, trainings, meetings, and fostering teamwork, collaboration, and innovation.
Flexible workplace arrangements may be available for employees in roles conducive to remote work (up to 2 days a week).

Essential Job Functions:
The essential job functions include, but are not limited to:
Working in a fast-paced office environment, including standing or seated positions for extended periods.
Commuting to ASML's facility and reporting to work regularly and punctually.
Performing office tasks such as paperwork, computer work, filing, etc.
Having sufficient communication abilities to perform assigned tasks and maintain job safety conditions.
Occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 20 pounds.
Additional Responsibilities (as needed in cleanroom and/or labs):
Willingness to work in a cleanroom environment under specific safety protocols.
Adhering to safety standards while working with lasers, chemicals, and other equipment.
