DESCRIPTION Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Project Kuiper will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.
We're looking for a Development Model Maker with expert experience in mechanical prototyping. This position will work side by side with Engineering teams to develop creative solutions to support Kuiper Manufacturing and Engineering.
Key job responsibilities
- Fabricate, assemble and modify prototype tooling & test equipment
- Work directly with engineering teams on design feedback DFM, project execution and commissioning
- Maintain GSE Tooling work area
- Ability to be flexible, support changing priorities and ambitious deadlines
- Support other development, production and facilities teams as required
- Must have valid driver's license and able to satisfy Amazon driver eligibility criteria.
- Must be able to lift up to 49 pounds on some occasions, stand/walk for up to 8-10 hours (with breaks), and able to frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach.

Candidates must be 18 years or older with the ability to understand and adhere to all job requirements and safety guidelines.
The starting pay for this role in Washington State is up to $42/hour and employees are eligible for incremental raises based on tenure. You will employ both conventional and digital manufacturing techniques to create engineering models and prototypes.

We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:
Kirkland, WA, USA BASIC QUALIFICATIONS - 3+ years working experience in a relevant field such as prototype fabrication, prototype machining or as a Model Maker
- Knowledge of sound machining principals including setup, cutter selection and order of operations
- Must be able to lift up to 49 pounds on some occasions, stand/walk for up to 8-10 hours (with breaks), and able to frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach.
