About the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the Georgia Institute of Technology The School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the Georgia Institute of Technology is one of the largest producers of electrical engineers and computer engineers in the United States. Almost 2,600 students are enrolled in the School's graduate and undergraduate programs, and in the last academic year, 801 degrees were awarded. Location Atlanta, GA Overview Job Summary The School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the Georgia Institute of Technology invites applications for the position of Lecturer to teach undergraduate courses in the area of Computer Systems and Software (CSS) and to manage software project infrastructure in the Computer Engineering program.
Specifically, we are seeking an individual who is invested in engineering education, who will deliver excellent teaching in the area of Computer Systems and Software and who will contribute to developing and maintaining innovative software projects supporting active learning in ECE courses. We are open to applicants in all areas of computer engineering, but we are particularly interested in candidates with teaching and research experience in embedded systems, software development, computer architecture, parallel programming, cloud and edge computing, reconfigurable computing, or computer system security.
This is a full-time, 12-month, non-tenure track academic position. Salary commensurate with qualifications. (Includes full benefits). Lecturer positions are part of a teaching faculty career track at Georgia Tech which provides opportunities for advancement to Senior and Principal Lecturer positions. Job Responsibilities Primary responsibilities of the Lecturer will include, but are not limited to:
providing high-quality classroom teaching teaching two sections of introductory undergraduate classes per semester supporting software project infrastructure needs for CSS courses that have significant programming and software design components participating in project and course development integrating innovative research and best practices for promoting student success in engineering education. Available course areas include digital system design, programming hardware/software systems, engineering software design, computer architecture, operating systems, concurrency and parallel programming. Software project support responsibilities include: (a) maintaining continuity across semesters by keeping lab/project assignment instructions, installation guides, and remote access scripts up to date with changing operating system versions, software libraries, and compiler updates, and (b) coordinating with ECE's computer support group to install, maintain, and provide remote access/activation scripts for software toolkits on compute clusters.
Applications from candidates with interests in evidence-based instructional methods, fostering student engagement and well-being, and innovative engineering education research are strongly encouraged.
