Job Summary The Historic Archaeologist supports cultural resource projects, conducting archaeological surveys, excavations, and research to identify , evaluate, and mitigate impacts to historical archaeological resources.

Compensation : Chloeta reserves the right to offer any candidate above or below the listed compensation amount based on experience or business needs.
$65,000-$85,000 per year FLSA Exempt Duties/Responsibilities Oversees the direction and supervision of all historic sites and historic artifactual analyses and site recommendations. Perform s historical research using archival, documentary, and oral history sources to inform archaeological investigations and contextualize findings. Analyze s archaeological artifacts and data, prepares detailed reports and recommendations for clients, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders. Develop s and implement s mitigation strategies for archaeological resources affected by project activities, including excavation, documentation, artifact curation, and public outreach efforts. Provide s expert testimony and presentations on archaeological findings and cultural resource management issues to a variety of audiences. Stay s informed of developments in the field of historical archaeology and CRM practices, including advancements in archaeological methodology, technology, and regulatory changes. Required Skills/Abilities Profound understanding of the periods, regions, and types of sites relevant to the projects they work on. This includes familiarity with historical records, material culture, and archaeological practices. Skilled in conducting archaeological surveys, test excavations, and data recovery excavations. Ability to use various field equipment and implement fieldwork strategies that minimize impacts on archaeological resources. Capable of analyzing archaeological findings, including artifacts, features, and stratigraphy, to interpret historical contexts and human activities. Strong research skills for gathering data from archival, bibliographic, and digital sources. This includes using historical documents, maps, photographs, and oral histories to inform archaeological investigations. Expertise in documenting fieldwork and research findings accurately and comprehensively. Ability to prepare detailed reports, papers, and presentations that contribute to the broader understanding of historical sites and materials. Knowledge of basic conservation techniques for stabilizing, preserving, and storing artifacts recovered during excavations. Ability to assess complex situations, identify challenges, and develop effective strategies for mitigating impacts on archaeological resources during project development. Willingness to adapt to changing project needs and conditions, including working in various environments and dealing with unforeseen challenges. Education and Experience Required: Master's degree in archaeology, anthropology, or close related field Required : At least one (1) year of working experience in historic archaeological research, administration, or management. Required: At least five (5) years of working experience in cultural resources Required: Completion of field school in archeology or anthropology Preferred: Certified Professional Archaeologist (CPA) , Registered Professional Archaeologist (RPA), Certified Historic Preservationist (CHP), Preferred: At least two (2) years of cultural experience in the Great Plains Regions; Oklahoma, Texas and Kansas Physical Requirements Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, etc. Benefits Eligible employees receive the following benefits:?
