DESCRIPTION OF MAJOR JOB DUTIES In the Department of Health, Human and Veterans Services, the Health Educator is responsible for developing and delivering health education programs and initiatives designed to promote healthy behaviors and improve the overall wellbeing of individuals and communities. The Health Educator is responsible for conducting educational sessions, creating informative materials, and collaborating with healthcare professionals and community partners to address public health issues effectively. The Health Educator will understand cultural differences and tailor health education materials and approaches to meet the needs of diverse populations and public health policies and initiatives that support health education. This position requires public speaking and could result in work that takes place on the weekend and outside of normal work hours.
QUALIFICATIONS A Bachelor's in Health Education, Public Health, or a related field; AND • At least 3 years of experience in health education or a related role, which must include data collection and program evaluation. Note: CHES (certified health education specialist) certification is preferred but not required. Additional equivalent experience or education may be used in lieu of the requirements at the discretion of the Department of Personnel/Human Resources.
