??About the Role:Reporting to the Director of Compounding Production, the Head Compounding Pharmacist will be responsible for the strategic development and growth of compounding capabilities, as well as acting as a subject matter expert in the development of new compounded treatments. You will strive to maximize quality and patient safety while dispensing medication in accordance with federal and state pharmacy regulations.You Will:Directly supervise all compounding personnelPerform and accurately document compounding procedures, quality assurance/quality control checks, and dispensing of compounded preparationsTrain and evaluate compounding personnelReview and approve materials for use in compoundingOversee the calibration, maintenance, and use of equipment to compound prescription orders and monitor the compounding environment in conjunction with the maintenance teamMust have familiarity and experience with all necessary pharmacy and compounding equipmentWork closely with R&D teams on the development and scale-up of new compounded formulationsFollow all safety, USP, BOP, and internal guidelines for the preparation of compounded medications.Maintain a safety-first mindset and ensure precautions are taken in all compounding activities within the lab, including when working with hazardous chemicals  in accordance with USPand applicable lawsWhen required, wear all personal protective equipment (PPE)Must have knowledge of all principles, theories and laws, policies and procedures that pertain to compounding- specifically USP,, other USP general chapters, and best compounding practicesPerform pharmacist related activities such as patient consultation and error documentationCoordinate with the Pharmacist-in-charge (PIC) for personnel, compliance and regulatory matters.Willingness to complete external training as requiredDevelop and evaluate standard operating procedures for the compounding lab and formulationsYou Have:Non-sterile compounding experience requiredStrong math skills are necessaryMust be able to undergo respirator fit testing - Full beards or a lot of facial hair may prevent a proper seal for the respiratorMust have the ability to work in a fast-paced environmentMust be capable of working with small, delicate pieces of expensive machinery to complete appropriate dosage forms in a timely mannerMust be a knowledgeable and empathetic leader to in-person pharmacist and technician teamsMust be able to work cross-functionally with remote teamsMust be able to lift at least 25 pounds with or without reasonable accommodationMust be able to stand for long periods of timePharmacists will work in a variety of positions and locations such as sitting, standing, squatting, kneeling, reaching, and walking; for prolonged periods of timeMust be able to wear required compounding safety equipment for long periods of time when required.Maintain all security and privacy rules regarding the use and handling of protected health information (PHI) in compliance with federal and state HIPAA regulationsFollow all state and pharmacy regulations and rules as designated by the Ohio State of Pharmacy and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA)Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment as mandated by the FDA's rules and regulationsProvide a world-class pharmacy experience for every one of our patientsPerform pharmacist duties such as drug utilization reviews, patient counseling, and dispensing activities as neededDispense medications and ensure accurate interpretation, labeling, and product selection of prescriptionsComplete pharmacy operational requirements by organizing and directing technicians' workflow, verifying their preparation and labeling of pharmaceuticals, and verifying order entries, charges, and inspectionsSupervise the work results of support personnelProtect patients and technicians by adhering to infection-control protocolsContribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as neededPerform other tasks as assignedBachelor's degree in PharmacyActive Pharmacist License in OhioEffective knowledge of state and federal pharmacy laws, rules and regulations related to the practice of pharmacy5+ years of pharmacist experience, at least 3 in a compounding pharmacy`Ability to work flexible shift timesProficiency in English, verbal and writtenProficiency in Windows based computer systemsDoctorate degree preferred Mail Service/Mail Order Pharmacy Experience a plusMulti-state licensure is preferentialOur Benefits (there are more but here are some highlights):Competitive salary & equity compensation for full-time rolesUnlimited PTO, company holidays, and quarterly mental health daysComprehensive health benefits including medical, dental & vision, and parental leaveEmployee Stock Purchase Program (ESPP)Employee discounts on hims & hers & Apostrophe online products401k benefits with employer matching contributionOffsite team retreatsConditions of Employment: This position will require working with Hazardous Drugs (HD) and would require that Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) be worn for the length of working with these drugs. These items would include gloves, respiratory protection, gown and other items as required.This position requires medical approval to wear respiratory protection in the form of negative or positive pressure respirators, including N95, full face respirator, SCBA, or Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR).Physical exertion required. Including, but not limited to, walking up to 50% of the time, standing up to 100% of the time, squatting and bending up to 20% of the time and lifting up to 80% of the time for up to a twelve hour shift. Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.Due to the risk of reproductive capability in handling or compounding certain Hazardous Drugs (HD) associates must be willing to confirm that they understand the potential risks (teratogenicity, carcinogenicity and reproductive effects) of handling hazardous drugs.
