University of Arizona Gem Science Internswill join our team at The RealReal, participating in its daily life. You'll attend huddles, team all-hands, learn to use our state-of-the-art tools, and learn about the work that goes into authenticating luxury goods. The first few weeks of your internship will be ramping up and tackling smaller tasks - after which you will tackle a signature project. These projects are appropriately scoped, will provide meaningful business value, and will be presented to senior executives at the end of your internship. The position will be based in our Phoenix Authentication Center.**What You Get To Do Every DaySupport Fine Jewelry Specialist by hands-on use of equipment such as Raman spectrometer to analyze gem material, UofA Weight Estimation Device for calculating carat weight and XRF machine to analyze metals, jewelry materials and gemsDevelop proposals for best practices/new applications for devices in the context of TRRConduct research for best practices of technology across jewelry industryWhat You Bring To The RoleRising Senior pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Gem Science at University of ArizonaCompletion of 200-300 level core courses (ie GEOS 251 - GEOS 356)Completion or future enrollment to 400 level courses (ie GEOS 462, MSE 480)Professional maturity, responsibility and strong work ethicDetail-oriented Knowledge of Google Suite (or experience in MS Office suite)An organized approach to prioritizing projects and the ability to multitaskWant to make a meaningful impact on the world around youMust be available to work 27 hrs = 6 units or (2nd option) 13.5 hrs for 3 unitsAuthorized to work in the United StatesThe expected hourly rate for this role is $21 - $21. To determine starting pay we carefully consider a variety of factors, including primary work location and an evaluation of a candidate's skills, experience, market demands, and internal parity. Additionally, salary is just one component of TRR's total rewards package.
