Position Overview This position will act as the outreach coordinator responsible for the coordination of outreach, partnerships, enrollment, and special projects throughout the CDLS program. The person in this role will provide administrative support to existing and new special projects at the CDLS by scheduling, planning, and implementing program logistics, evaluate project effectiveness, and monitor revenue vs. expenses for programs. Additionally, this person will work closely with the CLDS Director to set and publicize enrollment procedures and be the first point of contact for families regarding school tours, the application process, enrollment and possible scholarships. This position will report to the CDLS Director and will work closely with the CDLS leadership team to ensure the implementation of special projects, outreach initiatives, and enrollment policy, in alignment with CLDS mission, vision, and values throughout the program.
The ideal candidate will be driven to form new partnerships with community organizations to increase collaboration efforts, gain enrollment opportunities, and aid in the professional development of teachers and staff.  We also seek someone with exceptional interpersonal skills to effectively work with a diverse group of individuals from various backgrounds. Additionally, the ideal candidate will enjoy working with teachers and young children and embody the department and CDLS missions while ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all families, faculty/staff, and students.
A key responsibility of this position is to actively support and advance the University's commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility. This position is based on campus at the Child Development Laboratory School. Per UMN policy, work may be done remotely when appropriate and approved by your manager.  All UMN employees are expected to follow applicable public health and safety procedures.  Job Responsibilities Special Projects Coordination (40%)
Provide administrative support to existing special projects at the CDLS, such as summer programs; schedule/plan/implement logistics, evaluate project effectiveness, monitor revenue vs. expenses, etc.  Develop and implement new programming opportunities at the CDLS (before and after school offerings, lunch bunch, etc.); solicit parents and teachers for ideas, project revenue, and expenses, measure effectiveness, etc. Coordinate fundraising efforts for the CDLS; work with parents and teachers to plan events to increase giving for CDLS scholarships and special projects Actively search for internal and external grants to offer financial support to the CDLS to implement new projects and initiatives; identify stakeholders/Principal Investigator; gather data required for grants, monitor deadlines and submissions, etc.   Provide administrative support to the Dakota Language Nest program. Attend all-school activities including evening programs and help with set-up and clean-up as needed. Enrollment (30%)
Working closely with the CLDS Director, set and publicize enrollment procedures and timelines following CDLS enrollment policy. Create, implement, and/or modify computer-based information repositories for CDLS application and enrollment processes. Serve as liaison with the vendor for the online application system. Establish application fees and monitor fee structure consistent with competitor locations. Analyze application and enrollment trends; identify issues with enrollment policies and procedures, and recommend solutions. Schedule tours for incoming families with Preschool or Infant Toddler Program Directors. Coordinate enrollment and registration of CDLS families, providing regular communication to program directors regarding enrollment. Provide support to families filling out applications, registration forms, and scholarship forms. Maintain enrollment waiting lists, when available and necessary. Support families and teachers with the movement or withdrawal of children at CDLS Outreach & Partnerships Coordination (15%)
Work with Minneapolis ECSE to place children in the program. Coordinate outreach events for CDLS, including school fairs, community events, and open houses. Schedule tours for community partners including educators, visiting scholars or other University staff. Seek new community partnerships to increase collaboration efforts, gain enrollment opportunities, and aid in the professional development of teachers and staff.  Outreach Communication and Marketing (10%)
Serve as the first point of contact for prospective families, monitoring CRM and responding to email and voicemail inquiries. Communicate waitlist and enrollment decisions to families. Regularly contribute to school newsletters on issues related to enrollment and community outreach. Actively engage community partners by communicating CDLS events and news. Work with CDLS and ICD staff to create outreach materials and social media posts about CDLS programs for outreach events. Provide support and resources for families as needed. Classroom Coverage for special projects (5%)
Serve as a lead teacher, as needed, during special projects programming (language nest, summer programming, lunch bunch, etc) to backfill regular teacher coverage, when necessary. Required Qualifications BA/BS degree in Education or a related field or a combination of related education and work experience equal to six years 2 years of experience in early childhood, outreach, youth or family services, or another closely related field Ability to collaborate effectively with people from a variety of communities, backgrounds, and identities. Competence with Microsoft Suite, Google Drive, design software and facility to learn new software programs quickly. Strong interpersonal communication skills in both written and verbal settings. Experience working with children aged 0-8 in a formal or informal setting. A combination of education, and teacher experience that meets State of MN State Human Services Licensing Act, Rule 3 (9503.0033) requirements for an Assistant Child Care Teacher, such as a high school diploma or the equivalent, at least 12  quarter credits (8 semester credits) in early childhood education from an accredited post-secondary school, and  2,080 hours as an aide or intern. for additional qualifications. Preferred Qualifications Experience working with community organizations. Exceptional attention to detail skill set. Ability to speak a language other than English Experience with language immersion or language acquisition programs Experience supporting families, especially families from diverse backgrounds Experience with the Dakota language and/or culture About University of Minnesota Twin Cities
