JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Education Manager Supervisor: President & CEO Employees supervised: Educators and education interns, guest architects, designers, and artists. Classification: Exempt Work Summary: Manages day-to-day operation of Trust Education Department. Develops and operates new and existing education programs on site and off site for students, families, and educators.
Duties: Develop arts, design, and architecture content for programs that meet the mission and goals of the Trust and serve audiences with multiple learning styles. Maintain relationships with schools and other education partners. Set goals for youth and family programming, create new programs, and manage existing programs for youth and family audiences. Build community relationships. Develop and implement programs and policies that ensure, diversity, equity, and inclusion goals for the education department. Oversee the development of technology tools for young learners. Develop and manage online applications and content. Embrace and understand the application of new hardware and software for virtual learning. Work with development staff to identify grant support for educational programs. Participate in grant writing, and creation of project budgets. Prepare reports and other documentation as required in collaboration with the development and finance staff. Prepare evaluation summaries of education programs' annual outcomes. Create, plan, and operate professional development programs for educators. Research and prepare occasional public presentations. Prepare and monitor yearly departmental budget. Monitor expenditures and cash flow. Work with Trust communications department to build awareness of youth and adult educational programs. As a team member of the Trust, demonstrate positive interpersonal skills that promote open communication, friendliness, respect for all positions, maintenance of confidentiality and success of the organization. Perform other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: BA, BArch, BFA required (MA or MFA desirable). Minimum 5-10 years in museum education, art & architecture education/ history or related field Experience shaping content for web and mobile applications Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. Must be adaptable and able to work in an administrative and creative environment as part of a team, and available to work flexible hours, including weekends. Background should demonstrate successful program development and implementation, strong writing, and presentation skills. ENVIRONMENT: Offices located in Oak Park and Hyde Park Trust sites, which are multi-level work areas not accessible to the mobility impaired. Position requires frequent and regular computer and phone use as well as occasional travel to off-site locations. Workplace is a smoke- and drug-free environment. Equal opportunity employer.
