Position SummaryOne temporary hourly-intermittent Student Assistant positions in Signal Newspaper/English Department.Start DatePosition available on or after April 2, 2024 and ending on or before May 30, 2024. Possibility of reappointment based on budget, department needs, and job performance.Job Description/DutiesDuties include but are not limited to:Attend one-hour training session per week with lead editor and/or faculty representative.Assist in producing original content (enterprise, breaking news coverage, and multimedia features).Assist in scheduling, planning, editing and posting stories from reporters and other editors.Assist in contributing to story budget production and updates.Attend weekly staff meetings.Other duties as assigned.QualificationsPreferred Qualifications:It is preferred, but not required, that the incumbent demonstrates knowledge of AP Style.It is preferred, but not required, that the incumbent possesses a passion for news and journalism.It is preferred, but not required, that the incumbent demonstrates a desire to practice or teach journalism after graduation.It is preferred, but not required, that the incumbent is fluent in Spanish.Required Qualifications:Undergraduate students must be registered/enrolled in a minimum of six (6) Fall/Spring units.Post-baccalaureate students in a graduate program must be registered in a minimum of four (4) Fall/Spring units.Salary Range$16.00 per hourHow to ApplyTo be considered, qualified candidates must submit a completed Stanislaus State online employment application, cover letter, and resumé.
