POSITION OVERVIEW:
KIPP DC seeks an Early Literacy Regional Instructional Coach to join the KIPP DC instructional coaching team.  The instructional coaching team is responsible for the content support of leaders and teachers ensuring all students develop skills in joyful, affirming and engaging classrooms. The Early Literacy Regional Instructional Coach's work will support K-2 teachers across the region and fall into three categories: literacy program implementation, teacher and leader development.  This is an exempt role and will report to the Senior Managing Director of Literacy and Humanities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Literacy Program Implementation
Leads implementation of a high-quality literacy program, including all aspects of word recognition, language comprehension, and writing Observe instructional practices in schools to identify strengths and address gaps with coaching and professional development Analyze regional data to ensure that instruction is driving outcomes and address gaps with strategic instructional action, coaching and professional development Manage and support administration of DIBELS benchmark and progress monitoring assessment windows Teacher and Leader Development
Design and lead weekly content team meetings to support lesson internalization, content knowledge and pedagogical skill development Coach K-2 teachers in curriculum implementation and data-driven instruction Create data-driven action plans that drive student growth and achievement in word recognition, language comprehension, and writing Design and lead regional professional development to build content knowledge, develop pedagogy and curriculum/assessment-specific training Lead weekly walk-throughs and classroom observations with school leadership teams Collaborate with school-based leaders and teachers to devise meaningful action plans that improve student outcomes REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree required   Advanced training, with certificate,  in The Science of Reading required (i.e. LETRS, TNTP Science of Reading Course, Orton-Gillingham, etc) Five years of teaching experience required Two or more years of coaching, school leadership experience or comparable teacher leadership experience facilitating instructional teams and leading professional development required Experience teaching Really Great Reading Phonics Suite preferred Demonstrated excellence in instructional leadership, including instructional coaching, leading professional development, and student outcomes Ability to analyze and use qualitative and quantitative data on a regular basis to drive decision making TO APPLY:
