We're seeking Project Manager candidates with drywall and fireproofing experience for construction projects based in our Lansing, Michigan region. To be considered for this position, candidates should have a degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field, and have a passion for team-based planning and problem-solving and wholehearted commitment to building strong partnerships to support project goals.
Position Summary The Drywall and Fireproofing Project Manager/Estimator is responsible for estimate development and project management of all assigned projects.
Forecasts project cost to completion, and projects gross profit for each monthly close. Completes estimates and provides bid support including take-off, estimates, proposals, and pricing. Conducts project planning including conceiving of means/methods, schedules, change order time and costs, as well as coordinating subcontractors. Determines subcontractor/vendor buyout, commitments, and scope execution. Reads and interprets drawings and project specifications. Surveys and quantifies materials/assemblies from drawings. Communicates project goals with field leadership and coordinates planning efforts. Ensures that safety goals are achieved for responsible projects and identifies safe work practices and areas for improvement. Develops project budgets based on current estimates and proposals. Oversees vendor and subcontractor invoice approval. Develops Schedule of Values (SOV), Owner invoices and ensures timely Owner payments. Estimates and quotes extra work and document changes, ensure extras are loaded into Viewpoint/logs and track/act on Owner contract changes. Ensures that project controls such as safety forms, work plans, submittals, RFI's, logs and documents are organized, submitted, closed and complete. Works with project team to develop project and look-ahead schedules. Provides periodic review of schedules to ensure milestone dates are met and schedule delays are documented. Drafts and submits project correspondence in order to document risk-related issues such as delays, claims, extra work and safety hazards. Maintains data in required information systems or databases, and utilizes required software. Complies with federal and state regulations, and company policies and procedures. Completes assigned and required training for this role. Expected Hours of Work This position regularly requires flexibility in adapting to deadlines, changing schedules, priorities and unpredictable events. Occasional unscheduled overtime and weekend support is required.
Travel Travel is limited and primarily local during the business day, although some projects may require more out-of-area and overnight travel.
Required Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field Five (5) or more years of experience as a project manager and/or estimator specializing in drywall and/or fireproofing. -or-
Equivalent combination of the above education, training, and experience. Preferred Education and Experience Estimating Edge software experience. Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints. Experience estimating and managing projects involving drywall, fireproofing, metal studs, cold formed metal framing, and acoustical ceilings. Additional Eligibility Qualifications Advanced knowledge of Bluebeam or similar program. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Excellent data entry skills, analytical, problem solving and decision making skills, and the ability to multi-task. High degree of accuracy, attention to detail, and confidentiality. Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and as a team member. Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and tasks, with an emphasis on thoroughness, and attention to details. #letsbuildtogether
