Position Summary The Director of Exam Administration oversees the exam and assessment administration process for the School of Law. The director is the key administrator for assessments and exams, ensuring smooth execution from creation to completion. This role demands meticulous attention to detail and accuracy at every step, as well as consistent adherence to mission-critical deadlines. The director manages the process to ensure a high quality and error-free exam experience for both students and faculty which includes timely posting of exams, meeting all deadlines, and producing accurate reports.
The director should possess meticulous organizational skills to manage exam conflicts, rescheduling requests, and post-assessment reporting. The director collaborates with departments across the School and University to produce accurate data for the American Bar Association, the Office of Civil Rights, and other accrediting organizations. The director will ensure that exam and accommodation needs are met in a timely, organized fashion.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities 1. Lead and manage the assessment and exam process
Create and manage users in exam software, including granting rights and access to features within software. Act as the School of Law expert for the exam software by staying current on features, attending training sessions, and train others as needed. Maintain question banks within exam software for faculty. Build and post all assessments for quizzes, midterms, and final exams. Monitor syncing between learning management system and exam software. Troubleshoot exam issues within software for faculty (grading assessments) and students (taking assessments). Establish and manage training processes for exam proctors. Compile post-assessments reports for faculty and institutional reporting to support American Bar Association site visits Coordinate/schedule exam rooms based on the final exam schedule and collaborate with other departments as necessary to ensure space availability Manage and approve exam conflict requests and requests to reschedule exams 2. Lead and manage the accommodations process for law students
Collaborate with the Student Accessibility Services Office to provide legally required accommodations in compliance with University policies and practices and the American with Disabilities Act. Accurately enter approved accommodations into learning management system and exam software. Request accessible textbooks from publishers for accommodated students. Create and manage student accounts within note taking software. Advise students. Develop accommodated assessment schedules for quizzes, midterms, and final exams and clearly communicate with affected students about their revised schedules 3. Work in collaboration with the Deans for Academic Affairs and Student Affairs and the Registrar's Office as appropriate.
4. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements: Minimum Qualifications Education - A two-year college degree or completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school
Experience - Two years to five years (Equivalent combination of education and employment)
Preferred Qualifications Five to seven years of experience, preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge and skill in software systems like Microsoft 365, Banner, and ExamSoft. Excellent customer service skills focused on students and faculty. Strong project management skills with a focus on organization and accuracy. Desire and ability to foster a welcoming and professional environment for a diverse student and faculty population. Creative and effective problem-solving skills. Physical Requirements Job may require lifting light weight objects (1 to 10 pounds) with no repetitive bending or stooping. Occasionally lift average weight objects (1 to 10 pounds).
Work Environment Regular exposure to favorable conditions such as those found in a normal office.
Licenses/Certifications Ability to be certified as a DSO.
Salary/Pay Information Commensurate with experience
Anticipated Schedule Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm
