Position Highlights The University of Arizona Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program-Education (SNAP-Ed) supports the health and well-being of families in communities with low access to resources to make healthy changes in homes and neighborhoods. From local gardens in the community, to working with children's schools to create healthy environments, SNAP-Ed provides families opportunities to be active and healthy their way. (Funding comes from the Federal Government through Arizona Department of Health Services' AZ Health Zone). The University of Arizona Maricopa County Cooperative Extension provides services to specific communities in Maricopa County, so this position will work in the Wilson and Maryvale communities.
The Community Outreach Professional I position will develop, deliver and administer educational and community programs for external audience by offering education using nutrition and garden curricula in a variety of settings. Incumbent will teach nutrition and gardening classes in English and Spanish to youth and adults. This position supports interventions designed to change Policy Systems and Environment at schools and community settings for individuals-youth, adults, seniors-families and organizations. By engaging community key players as a principle liaison between community and department, like community members, businesses, groups and organizations this position helps identify appropriate program services and interventions that will help sustain a healthy community.

This is an Extended Temporary Employment (ETE) position. Duties & Responsibilities Engage community members to assess local needs and resources in order to co-create program interventions. Deliver program through direct education for youth and adults using a variety of nutrition and garden curricula. Act as liaison between community members, community partners and AZ Health Zone to coordinate services. Data Collecting, research and grant needs, and Reporting (SARN, SEEDS, Collection Summaries, teacher logs) for area of responsibility. Proctoring surveys for purposes of research for UA State Director over SNAP-Ed and/or funder, AZHZ. Physical Requirements: Must be able to move/transport up to 50 pounds. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through experience required. 1 year of relevant work experience is required. Must be bilingual in English/Spanish as this position will teach nutrition and gardening classes in English and Spanish to youth and adults. Must have a valid driver's license and ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy . Must have a reliable, personal vehicle. Preferred Qualifications FLSA Non-Exempt
