Projects include heavy civil , rail construction , asphalt paving and general contracting.This is a highly respected general contractor with over 100 years of history and a reputation of providing excellence in civil construction.Must be willing to travel.DESCRIPTION:The Superintendent will be responsible for the daily onsite field management and execution of the daily activities associated with heavy civil, DOT, and rail projects. This individual will also coordinate the daily work activities, including scheduling of labor, equipment, vendors and subcontractors. This position works directly with the Project Manager on completing the project safely, on schedule and within budget.RESPONSIBILITIESCollaborate with estimating, purchasing, accounting and project management on all aspects of project start-up and preconstruction planningMonitor project schedule and daily production goalsSchedule labor for all field jobs, track and approve hours for payroll, communicate and enforce policies/procedures, and approve time-off requestsCoordinate site personnel assignment of workExecute on contractual requirements and obligationsCollaborate with Site Safety Director to manage the site safety programEvaluate project problems with Project Managers and assist in finding resolutionMonitor expenses to ensure budget compliancePrepare and submit required reports detailing employee and equipment hours, completed quantities, and other activitiesAssist with all aspects of project close outEDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONSHigh School diploma or equivalent required (Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred).At least 5 years of industry experience, with at least 2 of those years working in a supervisory capacity.A combination of equivalent education and work experience may be consideredREQUIREMENTS:Experience working on heavy civil, DOT and/or rail projects.
