POSITION OVERVIEW As an Prep Cook at Occasions Catering, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our kitchen. You will work closely with our culinary team to prepare ingredients, assist in the cooking process, and maintain a clean and organized workspace. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about food and eager to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced catering environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES Assist with the preparation of ingredients for various recipes, including chopping, slicing, and portioning Follow standardized recipes and instructions to ensure consistency and quality in food preparation Support the cooking team during service by assembling dishes, garnishing plates, and maintaining presentation standards Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including knives, slicers, mixers, and food processors Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in the kitchen area, including washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and disposing of waste properly Collaborate with the culinary team to ensure smooth workflow and timely execution of orders Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines to ensure the safety of our guests and staff Assist with inventory management, including receiving deliveries, rotating stock, and storing ingredients properly QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE Previous experience in a kitchen environment preferred but not required Basic understanding of food preparation techniques and kitchen safety procedures Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment while maintaining a positive attitude Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Excellent communication and teamwork abilities Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed Willingness to learn and take direction from senior kitchen staff Food Handler's Certificate or willingness to obtain one upon hiring BENEFITS Competitive wage range of $20-$25 per hour Opportunity for growth and advancement within the company Flexible scheduling options for full-time and part-time positions Positive and supportive work environment with a focus on teamwork and collaboration EQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY Occasions cares about merit, experience, and other job-related criteria.
