Job Description: The Sport Administration program in the Department of Human Performance and Sport Sciences at Tennessee State University invites applicants for a tenure-track position at the Assistant /Associate rank for fall 2024. The Department of Human Performance and Sport Sciences within the College of Health Sciences at Tennessee State University is seeking applicants must have an earned Doctorate in Sport Management or related discipline by the start of the position. Candidates for this position should demonstrate an active sport management research agenda, a record of outstanding university level teaching, and interest and expertise in guiding graduate level research. While we are seeking the best possible candidates, preferred candidates will be able to teach at the graduate level, guide and conduct research in three or more of the following areas: Social and Cultural Aspects of Sports, Sport Law, Sport Finance, Sport Marketing, Ethics in Sport and Exercise Science, Sport Management and Leadership, Sport Event Production and Venue Management, Sport Governance, Sport Media and Communication, Sport Economics, Exercise and Performance Psychology, Sport Data and Decision Analytics. Prior sport industry experience and/or experience collaborating with sport industry partners is a plus. This is a 9-month, tenure-track appointment with potential for summer employment. The candidate would join a sport and exercise science program with many exciting, dynamic, and expansive opportunities currently in-progress and in the future. Within the HPSS Department, this individual will be instrumental in furthering the program's objective of preparing students with outstanding classroom and experiential learning opportunities to become competent and professionally adept within their field. Primary responsibilities include teaching Sport Administration courses at the graduate (master's) and undergraduate levels, conducting and leading sport management research. Other responsibilities include advising majors, supervising field/practicum experiences, collaborating with various community agencies to establish and sustain field/practicum experiences, serving on university and departmental committees, performing academic discipline related community service, grant writing, and conducting research. In addition, faculty members perform other duties as required to meet institutional needs. About Tennessee State University
