Full job description Position Description Harris County Pollution Control Services Department (HCPCS) Mission
The mission of Harris County Pollution Control Services Department (HCPCS) is to protect the citizens of Harris County from environmental impacts through firm, consistent enforcement of state and federal regulations. The ultimate goal of PCS is clean air, water, and proper management of waste. The activities PCS are directed toward ensuring clean air and water for the citizens of Harris County, consistent with the protection of public health, enjoyment of property and the protection of plant, animal, and marine life.
What you will do for Harris County Pollution Control Under the general supervision of the Water Services Manager with oversight and coordination with the Executive Assistant the Administrative Secretary Stormwater is responsible for performing specific secretarial tasks for the Stormwater and Lab sections.

Duties and Responsibilities: Place long distance calls. Coordinate monthly report for stormwater. Receive, distribute, and send faxes. Document spill, emission event, stormwater discharge, fire training notifications. Assign site and primary ID numbers upon request. Input complaint intake information received, and forward to Dispatcher. Input monitoring information into PCSMS and maintain the stormwater database for the Dry & Wet weather screening season Collect sanitary sewer water discharges received by fax and enter into PCSMS Combine and drop completed investigation reports into PCSMS. Update TCEQ spreadsheet/database TCEQ Water Permits Amendments, including Precinct No. and keymap no. Send original to Engineering Section and copies to Precincts Index stormwater documents into PCSMS including stormwater discharge and monthly stormwater reports Maintain audio files of all internal meetings. Input DMR data for the four outfalls under Harris County's MS4 permit in both PCSMS and the Storm Water Database (Quarterly) Digitize calls and written correspondence when requested Prepare Violation Notices to be mailed, scan and upload Violation Notice copies to files Format and forward enforcement letters needing signature to PCS Director Upload enforcement case files to SharePoint site upon request. Experience: Two (2) years of secretarial experience One (1) year of customer service experience Licensure: Valid Driver's License (TX upon hire)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Basic computer skills Proficiency in data entry and use of computer is required. Intermediate level of Microsoft Word and Access is required Working knowledge of Adobe and SharePoint programs Effective communication skills (verbal and written) are required Ability to handle difficult people and situations in a professional manner is necessary Must project a professional image Must be able to handle multiple projects and be a team player

Preferences Experience and/or Training: PCSMS database (CRM) experience (preferred) General Information Position Type and Typical Hours of Work: Full time | Monday - Friday | 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Hours may vary based on the business need of the department.
Reporting Relationships: Reports to Position: Manager, Administrative Services Supervised Positions: None Work Environment and Physical Demands: This role involves operating within an office and outdoor setting, implying that a significant portion of the tasks and responsibilities require field work in industrial facilities. The physical demands may involve lifting and moving objects weighing up to 20 pounds. Possible work exposures: Dangerous chemicals, inclement weather, or various temperature changes.
Employment may be contingent on passing a drug screen and meeting other standards.
