About Us Centralia College is located on a 30-acre campus in the heart of Centralia, Washington and has been serving students in the Lewis County region since 1925. As a comprehensive community college, Centralia College offers academic transfer and workforce programs, as well as adult basic education, ELL, and personal enrichment classes. The college also offers five Bachelor of Applied Science degrees: Information Technology - Application Development, Diesel Technology, Applied Management (Business), Behavioral Healthcare and Teacher Education.
In addition to the main campus in Centralia, Centralia College East in Morton is a smaller site that serves the needs of students in east Lewis County. Since the college is committed to the success of all students, Centralia College also provides educational programs at two corrections centers in southwest Washington - Garrett Heyns Education Center located in Shelton, Washington and the Cedar Creek Corrections Center located in Littlerock, Washington. Job Description Centralia College is currently seeking applicants to serve as the piano Accompanist for the college's choir.The accompanist provides in-person, on-campus accompaniment for the choir's rehearsals and performances and assists with related tasks. The position requires a time commitment every Thursday evening during the 10-week term—and includes a public performance at the end of each academic quarter. Duties and Responsibilities Typical duties include: Collaborating with the choir director on the musical selections each term.Analyzing assigned music prior to rehearsal and performances for the purpose of ensuring efficient use of rehearsal time and performance schedules.Playing piano during choir rehearsals and performances.Attending weekly rehearsals and performances.Encouraging students in collaborative processes. Qualifications A high-school diploma or equivalent.Demonstrated ability to play piano using advanced musical skills across multiple genres.Proficiency in advanced sight-reading skills.Ability to work well and collaboratively with students and the choir director. Preferred Qualifications College-level training in instrument and music theory. A bachelor's degree or higher in music or a closely related field.Experience as an accompanist.Experience working in a college or university setting. Conditions of Employment Centralia College faculty are represented by the Centralia College Federation of Teachers, Local No. 4469, AFT/AAFL-CIO.
