Full job description About us: Chrysalis believes that every person with a mental illness is capable of working competitively in the community with the right kind of support and job. Chrysalis supported employment services follow Individual Placement and Support (IPS), Dartmouth's model of evidence-based supported employment. The goal is to help individuals find and maintain competitive, community-based employment that matches their individual skills, interests, and abilities.
IPS Supported Employment is an approach to vocational rehabilitation for people with serious mental illnesses that emphasizes helping people obtain competitive work in the community and providing the support necessary to ensure their success in the workplace. Individuals are offered help finding and keeping jobs that capitalize on their personal strengths and motivation. Individuals work with one designated Employment Specialist through their entire employment process from intake to long-term support.

Job Summary: Our IPS Employment Specialist staff provide recovery oriented, person-centered, psychosocial rehabilitation services through IPS models to working aged youth and adults with mental health and substance use challenges. These services may include career development skills training and support, community employment opportunities, assessing interests and strengths of members, working side-by-side to guide, organize, and support meaningful work or educational opportunities.
Staff develop relationships with community partners, employers, educational institutions and other mental health programs to coordinate services. Staff are responsible for keeping all documentation accurate and up to date using our electronic data systems and may include such things as; progress notes, calendars, hour logs, and monthly reports. Qualifications:
1. Strong commitment to principles of work & recovery and to see the potential for personal growth within a community setting with person-centered services.
2. Experience working with individuals who experience persistent mental health and substance use challenges.
3. Ability to evaluate and support wellness and recovery goals and career development barriers or concerns.
4. Must have a community-minded, fun-loving spirit, who enjoys being around people.
5. Be encouraging and inspiring in an authentic way and skilled at including others
6. Lead with humility, compassion, empathy, and a sense of humor!
7. Hold a belief in human potential and bring out others' true strengths and talents to foster independence and critical thinking
8. Highly adaptable and invested in building and restoring relationships.
9. Active listener and skilled with group facilitation.
10. Valid driver's license, access to a vehicle, and current automobile insurance.
Preferred:
1. Bachelors or Masters Degree in Social Work, Rehabilitation Psychology, Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Youth Services & Education, Behavioral Health, Human Services, Education, Counseling, or related field.
2. Previous experience working in Human Services, Rehabilitative, Vocational, Employment/Educational support settings, IPS model.
3. Previous CCS or contract service training/network provider experience
Work Environment: Staff provide the majority of services out in the community with participants or via telehealth when needed. Staff will have a variety of work locations depending on the service recipients' needs. Staff may travel throughout Dane County and transport participants when appropriate. Population Served: Chrysalis participants have a wide array of different backgrounds and experiences. Staff are expected to be comfortable and culturally competent to work with individuals with a variety of identities. For example and not limited to: Mental Health and Substance Use, Justice System Involvement, Multi-cultural identities, Differing abilities & strengths, LGBTQ+, Adults and youth, Varied levels of engagement in services
Location: Chrysalis office is centrally located in downtown Madison, WI at 1342 Dewey Court, 53703. Specialists often travel to meet participants in their communities throughout Madison and surrounding Dane County locations.
Hours: Chrysalis provides services mostly during the core business hours of 8:30a-4:30p, Monday – Friday; There will be some occasional evenings and weekends to provide job support, attend social recreation activities, agency-wide events, or professional development/training or conferences.
Employee Status: This is an Exempt - Salaried - Full-time position, Averaging regularly 40 hours a week
Salary: $41,600 to $50,000 annual compensation (commensurate w/ qualifications/experience) Bi-weekly pay schedule
