Area Manager or designee. SUMMARY:
The Assistant Baker is responsible for quality preparation of baked goods in an atmosphere of cleanliness and in an efficient manner as directed by the bakery manager.
Ensures Food and Nutrition Services Central Operations develop and promote good community relations. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Applies mathematics (weights, measures, and quantities) to recipes.
2. Ability to adapt recipes and techniques to meet the regulations and guidelines of the National School Lunch and Breakfast program.
3. Fills orders for each school kitchen and catering department.
4. Assists in daily clean-up, including pots and pans.
5. Performs major cleaning of refrigerators, freezers, storeroom, ovens, and other equipment.
6. Operates all bakery equipment and preforms routine equipment preventative maintenance.
7. Manages bakery on a temporary basis as needed in the absence of the bakery manager.
8. Works cooperatively with other central operation employees and school kitchen staff.
9. Performs related work as assigned or required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High School Diploma or GED Certificate desirable.
2. Communicates effectively in both written and verbal form.
3. Basic math and computer skills.
4. Self- motivated with excellent attendance. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in food service, including serving, catering, kitchen, bartending, or restaurant manager. PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
1. Possesses stability and physical fitness (including lifting up to 50 pounds) to carry on the responsibility of the job.
2. Ability to perform frequent bending, reaching, and climbing.
3. Ability to perform prolonged standing/walking.
4. Ability to maintain visual concentration on equipment.
5. Ability to react rapidly to physical changes (e.g., operating equipment).
6. Possesses good motor skills-hand tools and machinery used daily.
7. Ability to perform the daily moving of equipment, furniture, and materials.
8. Ability to perform pushing and pulling.
9. Ability to perform repetitive motions-bending.
10. Ability to perform squatting and reaching/lifting overhead.
11. Ability to adjust to hot and cold environments
12. Ability to work with others.
