POSITION TITLE: Youth & Senior Services Coordinator STATUS: Exempt, FT GRADE: 4
DEPT: Strategic Initiatives/FamilyWorks SALARY: $50,055K/yr REPORTS TO: Associate Director Supervises: SYEP Supervisors, Interns/Volunteers
Summary: The Youth & Senior Services Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and delivering services to youth and seniors connected with FamilyWorks including out-of-school time programming, enrichment/exposure activities for youth, and services for aging adults designed to enhance quality of life. Primary responsibilities include program instruction, securing resources, materials/resource management, developing community relationships, and strategic partnerships. The Youth & Senior Services Coordinator will also be responsible for supporting the SYEP program, which includes securing worksite placements/agreements, completion of new hire paperwork for youth, supervising and monitoring youth on work sites, supporting virtual programming as appropriate, and facilitating workshops pertaining to the diverse needs and interests of youth. Leverage interest in social media to access diverse social media channels such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, SnapChat, etc. to connect with youth. Create opportunities for seniors to engage in social, health/wellness, and educational activities; support senior services initiatives facilitated by CHA, YWCA and other partners.
COLLABORATES WITH: Collaborates with other FamilyWorks staff members, YWCA programs and interns and volunteers, CHA Senior Services team, members of Community Based Organization (CBO) groups and other city and state agencies,
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES: Program Management: Responsible for implementation and evaluation of senior and out-of-school time programs in accordance with the FamilyWorks model and standards, YWCA's OST strategy, outcomes, and procedures; ensure that program plans operate in alignment with a Positive Youth Development program philosophy and program outcomes; coordinate all out-of-school time programs to provide the maximum benefit to youth. Responsible for supporting the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP). Maintain and continue to contribute to the development of comprehensive curriculum/ programs in OST education for K-12th grade youth.Ensure curriculum content is scientifically accurate and age-appropriate. Coordinate program logistics at designated locations and collaborate with CBOs, schools, park districts and other partners. Proactively recruit youth and aging adults to participate in the program. Assists in developing marketing and social media campaigns to promote and publicize youth and senior programming and increase awareness and participation.
Talent Management: Responsible for management, supervision and/or oversight of assigned staff, including employees, independent subcontractors, interns, work-study students, and volunteers; identify, recruit and engage with individuals and organizations to offer high quality programs and services for target populations; manage daily program operations coordinating schedule and work assignments; Maintain a database of partner organizations, corporations, and local businesses willing to host youth and aging adults workers. Ensure assigned department staff is trained according to funder and YWCA standards and positioned to meet annual goals and program outcomes.
Data Management: Responsible for ensuring that recordkeeping and reporting systems are maintained in an up to date and accurate manner, and consistent with YWCA standards; ensure the program achieves and maintains compliance with all funder requirements; complete all program related reporting as required. Ensure all SYEP files meet all compliance requirements, specifically new hire paperwork and time sheets.Document youth assessment, attendance, youth, parent, and teacher survey data and maintain CHA's Client Management Tracking System (CMTS) and Efforts to Outcomes (ETO) for tracking and evaluating data.
Professional Development: Attend and assist in training and professional development offered by CHA, YWCA, and others. Willingness to be a contributing member of the Youth Education Services and Senior Services team on other projects as required.
OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED: Other duties outside of the responsibilities of the position may be assigned including special projects and events.
QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in the development and program implementation for Out-of-School Time and Summer Youth Employment Programs. Experience coaching in an educational or youth development setting;Experience facilitating workshops for teens, youth, and older adults, and supervising youth workers, interns, and college students. Sensitivity to and understanding of the needs of at-risk youth and aging adults; Sincere motivation to work collaboratively with an energized, committed, and diverse team; Action-oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable, and innovative approach to business; Detailed-oriented, highly organized and ability to deliver excellent customer service. Demonstrate a solid understanding of how relevant social media channels work and how to optimize content so that it is engaging on those channels. Excellent interpersonal, written, oral, and computer skills.
EDUCATION REQUIRED: AHigh School diploma, or GED, is required. Must have verifiable previous experience working with youth and/or aging adults. Bachelor's Degree preferred, with preference for a degree in Youth Development, Education, Gerontology, or a social service relevant field.
CERTIFICATIONS(s) REQUIRED: Complete the YWCA's forty-hour sexual assault crisis intervention training within ninety days of employment start date (if not completed within the prior two years).
WORK ENVIRONMENT and SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS: The Youth & Senior Services Coordinator must have the ability to be flexible in work scheduling. The Coordinator must possess reliable transportation and have the ability to travel within Metropolitan Chicago. The work environment includes offices and sites where youth and adults are present. The noise level is usually moderate. Movement requirements include walking, stooping or kneeling. There may be a need to reach, lift or move objects, such as packages, supplies and computers. Normal (or corrected) vision range; ability to see color and to distinguish letters, numbers and symbols are necessary to the work, which may require close viewing. Occasionally may need to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Communication needs include seeing, hearing and speaking. While in the office, there will be periods of sitting, holding a telephone and using computers. Reasonable accommodations may be made for an incumbent to meet the essential responsibilities of the position.
WORK SCHEDULE: Work schedule will primarily align with out-of-school time hours and availability of youth (e.g., Monday – Friday, 10:00am – 6:00pm or 11:00am – 7:00pm or 33.5 hours during the week and 4 hours each Saturday). Some evenings and weekends. Schedule can vary depending on the needs of the agency.
