The College of Liberal Arts is seeking an experienced Windows Systems Administrator. This position will provide systems support for both instruction and research in a mixed Linux and Windows environment. This position will work in conjunction with the CLAS (College of Liberal Arts and Sciences) Information Technology group to assess specific research and instructional needs, and to architect and implement solutions. Diverse interactions with faculty, staff, and central IT resources will require excellent interpersonal skills. The successful candidate will have an excellent understanding of other campus technology units and experience cooperating with their staff to identify and implement the best shared, independent, or centrally hosted solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
Demonstrates knowledge of hardware (Windows servers/workstations, storage, BIOS, RAID arrays, network switches). Works with major functions, features, and components of server software, including providing base-level system security and patching, application installation and configuration, User management, and OS configuration. Utilizes inter-institutional systems administration relationships to solve complex issues. Demonstrates knowledge of configuration management using SCCM, Puppet, or other config management toolsets. Designs and implements secure solutions to comply with relevant policies (e.g., NIST-171). Engages in project management activities, primarily related to research-related IT projects. Convenes stakeholders to secure agreement on scope and scale; manage financial and personnel resources; identify and mitigate risks; document decisions and communicate appropriately. Education Required
Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Required Qualifications:
At least 3 years of relevant work experience. Extensive knowledge of and ability to use Microsoft Office support tools available on the desktop (e.g., calendaring, word processing, e-mail, presentation software, and spreadsheets). Eligibility to work on ITAR, EAR, and NIST-compliant projects. Knowledge of and practical experience with configuring and securing servers, desktops and applications. Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and teamwork skills. Demonstrated ability to work independently with a strong focus on customer service. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with technical and non-technical staff. Demonstrated experience working effectively in a welcoming and respectful workplace environment. Desired Qualifications:
Experience with Windows server operating systems (i.e., Server 2012, Server 2016, Server 2019). Demonstrated ability to evaluate technology proposals and analyze system specifications from technical, financial, and integration perspectives. Experience supporting: Windows 11, 10, 7. Experience scripting (PowerShell, vbscript) Experience with MS SQL server, AWS/Azure cloud computing. Experience with security systems relevant to computer systems and networks, notably Active Directory authentication, use of certificates, and implementation / administration of Group Policy, LDAP.
