Job Description:Summary:This position will involve working on projects with a diverse team of engineers and scientists, completing water resources/civil engineering and related technical assignments. Project work may include hydrologic analysis related to stormwater planning and flood control; hydraulic analysis and design related to storm sewer infrastructure, rivers, streams, conveyances, dams and other hydraulic structures; preparation of technical reports, plans and specifications; and working with clients, permitting agencies, and public officials. The work may at times involve short-term, out-of-town assignments either in the field or in another office.Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in civil/environmental engineering, with emphasis on water resources5 years of water resources engineering experience with a focus on hydrology and hydraulicsExperience with water resources challenges including precipitation and flooding data analysis; urban and rural hydrologic analysis; storm sewer analysis and design; open channel and pipe flow analysis; hydraulic structures; stormwater quality and green stormwater infrastructure design; bank stabilization and stream restoration; floodplain analysis and mapping; dam break analysis; dam and levee analysis and designExperience with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling approaches and commonly used softwareWillingness to work cooperatively with project team members in a high-energy working environment that encourages self-initiativeFlexible working style as required to meet deadlines and/or client needsStrong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skillsLegal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship from Barr, now or in the futureValid driver's license and acceptable driving recordPreferred Qualifications:Master's degree or PhD in civil or environmental engineering with a focus on hydrology and hydraulics6 or more years of water resources engineering experience with a focus on hydrology and hydraulicsProfessional engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within 5 yearsExperience with providing work direction to others at a task- or project-level.Working knowledge of and/or experience with water quality projectsExperience with business development and client managementWorking knowledge of GIS and CADD softwareExperience with site development design and plans and specificationsConstruction observation, field work, and surveying experienceA hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid work arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office. This position can be based out of Barr's Minneapolis, Minnesota office.NOTE: Must be able to work in locations that may feature rough terrain typical of construction sites and may also require entering and working in facilities that include limited accessibility, moving machinery, and conditions typical of industrial facilities. Applicants may be asked to participate in a drug screening program at the request of specific clients. An OSHA-mandated physical exam may be required.
