The Virtual Desktop Admin is responsible for the of all VDI desktops, storage, backups and related software and security components through best practices and the appropriate staffing and management of a technical team. This individual will apply proven communication and problem-solving skills to guide and assist the team on issues related to the configuration and monitoring of mission-critical information systems maximizing service quality for the organization as measured through key indicators.
Collaborating with other teams to ensure that the infrastructure is adhering to and meeting the expectation of the user community.
Assists with the day-to-day engineering tasks of engineers in the group as required Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Maintain the Virtual Desktop Infrastructure Environment. Configure, maintain, and document the virtual server infrastructure including the physical hyper converged hardware. (VMware). Deploy new virtual servers, maintain templates, and perform updates when necessary. Monitor compute resources; maintain resource pools and user entitlements, and applicable policies. Update and deploy VDI desktop images. Diagnose and troubleshoot end user resource and connection issues, hardware and software problems. Installing and maintaining the administrative and monitoring tools necessary for high levels of availability and performance of the VMware View system. Applying platform and VMware upgrades and updates to production and non-production components. Engaging in capacity plan exercises to ensure adequate system resources. Collaborating with technical teams and VMware to ensure proactive support. Writing and maintaining scripts to improve system management tasks. Participating in your change control process for all planned application and technical activities. Maintaining and testing processes related to business continuity. Follows vendor and VMware best practices for hardware and software configuration. Qualifications: Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible, work-related experience designing, implementing, maintaining and troubleshooting Microsoft Windows server, application deployment with platforms such as VMWare, Workspace One and App Volumes. Experience with business continuity and disaster/recovery planning with respect to Infrastructure systems.
