VIG Build Technician / Engineer – Assembly LuxWall is focused on the product development, scaling and commercializing of innovative glass products and solutions for the built environment. LuxWall's transparent insulation technology, Enthermal Glass, provides a step change in energy performance by significantly reducing convective, conductive, and radiative heat gain and heat loss in buildings. Acting as a transparent thermos bottle for building, LuxWall has the potential to reduce global carbon emissions by more than 0.5 gigaton per year with mass adoption. Enthermal Glass will forever change the way buildings are designed and constructed for the future sustainability of our plant.
The "VIG Build Technician / Engineer" is responsible for process development, equipment development, and product development related to prototype line Vacuum Insulated Glass (VIG) Assembly operations. They must help build the infrastructure, processes, and capabilities to support the LuxWall fail-fast product development methodology with fast learning cycles for VIG Assembly.
Position Responsibilities:  Support and collaborate with laboratory technicians in the development of the pilot line; to learn fundamental VIG science and process steps required to fabricate a small-scale VIG unit.
Operate equipment and oversee processes for VIG Assembly for the prototype line, including health and safety, equipment preventative maintenance, and materials compliance. Take the lead in equipment and process troubleshooting and failure analysis for VIG Assembly operations. Aid in specifying, sourcing, and installing equipment required for the rapid prototyping line. Cross-train with other VIG Build Technicians to develop competency in all prototype line operations and fill in for other technicians as required. Work closely with the Senior Scaling Project Engineer to optimize prototype equipment operations related to VIG Assembly. Collaborate with colleagues to develop requirements and specifications that align with VIG 2.0 product requirements. Support materials processing, process optimization, and manufacturing experiments. Assist with commissioning and optimizing Pilot Line Scaling Tools. Attend and contribute to Pilot Line design meetings. Work closely with other team members to ensure projects are completed and on time. Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures. Perform assigned responsibilities as needed. Position Requirements: Associate degree in technical or engineering field and minimum 5 years' experience or vocational training and 10 years' experience. A bachelor's degree is a plus. Self-motivated, proactive, and comfortable collaborating on experiments, product development, and pilot-line production processes. Must be a hands-on individual. Excellent troubleshooting skills and attention to detail Excellent verbal and written communication skills Proficient using MS Office product suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings. Experience working with glass, ceramics, coatings, and fabricated glass is a plus. Robotics experience is a plus. Portrays a sense of urgency and works as a team player.  All applicants must complete and pass a drug screening and background check. LuxWall's process is a 10-panel drug screen which includes marijuana.
