Job Title : Twice Exceptional Teacher FLSA Exemption Status : Exempt Classification Group : Cherry Creek Education Association Supervising Position : Director of Gifted and Talented Services or designee Pay Plan : Certified/Licensed Pay Range : Certified/Licensed Salary Schedule Last Updated : 04/17/2024 Pay Information Benefits Information JOB SUMMARY : Develop programming to support effective strength-based instruction for twice-exceptional students (students identified as gifted/talented with an identified co-existing disability requiring Special Education services). Effectively deliver instruction that promotes an exemplary educational program which fosters achievement for all students. Assignments include twice exceptional students with mild to moderate to severe needs accessing varied Least Restrictive Environment settings. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : The subsequent duties outline the fundamental operations of the position and exemplify the nature of the tasks carried out. They do not encompass a comprehensive inventory of the obligations and responsibilities fulfilled in this role. The approximation of frequencies and time allocation percentages are flexible and subject to the requirements of the organization. Instruct twice-exceptional students in large, small, and one-on-one situations.
Daily 20%
2.
Develop, plan, prepare, and implement course content, aligned with Colorado Content Standards, for the instruction of twice exceptional students to include but not limited to the creation and delivery of schedules, materials, curriculum, lesson plans, and targeted learning activities. Daily 20%
3.
Design assignments and assessment tasks that allow twice exceptional students to demonstrate understanding in a variety of ways and utilize assessment data to provide meaningful feedback as well as to adjust instruction. Daily 10%
4.
Create a classroom environment that maximizes instructional opportunities across settings through the direct instruction and supervision of student behavior. Daily 10%
5.
Develop and implement individualized education plans for twice-exceptional students. Daily 10%
6.
Monitor student growth and progress, adapt support as needed, and maintain documentation pertinent to academic, social, and emotional progress and needs of twice-exceptional students. Daily 5%
7.
Communicate students' progress, needs, and eligibility with parents/guardians and other staff as needed.

8.
Collaborate with teachers, support personnel, administrators, and colleagues to enhance instruction and improve student outcomes.

9.
Participate in department, team, building, and District meetings and discussions; student and/or family conferences; social, cultural, interscholastic, and extracurricular activities; and professional growth opportunities.

10.
Administer formal and informal diagnostic assessments for students with dichotic needs.

11.
Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

N/A MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : The minimum prerequisites of formal education, professional work experience, certifications, licenses, endorsements, designations, trainings, and other criteria that a candidate must fulfill to be considered for a position. Criminal background check and fingerprinting required Bachelor's degree One (1) year of professional teaching experience working with the special education population Colorado Department of Education (CDE) teaching license CDE Special Education Generalist (ages 5-21) endorsement Mandatory biannual District-facilitated Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) de-escalation training Basic knowledge of typical office equipment such as telephones, copiers, fax machines, email, etc. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Basic classroom management and planning skills Basic organizational skills Intermediate verbal and written communication and interpersonal relations skills Ability to align curriculum and assessments with state content standards Ability to support programs designed to increase student achievement Ability to assume leadership in the development and communication of programs and curriculum Ability and desire to work as a team member Ability to actively participate in a Professional Learning Community Ability and desire to stay abreast of best instructional practices in both gifted and special education Ability to understand, appreciate, and make accommodations for student diversity Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with diverse stakeholder groups Ability to serve as a role model and an innovative and creative learner with an insatiable thirst for knowledge that stays on the cutting edge of instructional practice and pedagogy PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS : The physical demands, mental functions, cognitive capacities, and work environment factors required to perform a position's essential functions.
