Assist with and support transportation planning efforts such as corridor studies and related staff and consultants performing work tasks related to the studies. Contribute to the mission of the City of Boulder to expand the availability of transportation choices and increase the community's use of them in alignment with Boulder's Transportation Master Plan. Assist with innovative community engagement and outreach strategies, encouragement activities, as well as the preparation and graphic design of public information and project materials. Assist with and support other transportation planning initiatives, grant opportunities, programs and projects in collaboration with other Public Works/Transportation teams and city-wide departments, as well as with external agency partners as needed. Supports research, data, and policy analysis for a variety of planning and engineering efforts and conducts field observations and data collection. Other duties as assigned to meet the needs of the city organization. Primary work functions include supporting team efforts on task-oriented work, providing one's practical knowledge of the work areas and support for transportation projects and programs, and other related duties as required. Issues faced range from routine to difficult, requiring judgement to identify appropriate methods, techniques, and resources to complete assignments.
Job Description: JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Supports the planning and implementation of plans and programs that address walking, bicycling, and transit use as viable, efficient, and safe transportation option.Assists with tasks relating to community engagement processes supporting the goals of the city and the Transportation Master Plan, including integration with the Boulder Valley Comprehensive Plan and the city's Sustainability Framework and Climate Commitment goals.Contributes to the preparation and implementation of transportation planning projects and reports, evaluation processes, and Community Environmental Assessment Processes (CEAPs).Assists the coordination with public and private partners to promote, inform and encourage diverse modal transportation options. Activities include supporting events, marketing and information campaigns, educational outreach and other supportive efforts.Assists in the conceptual planning and public process associated with capital improvement projects.Supports research, data, and policy analysis for a variety of planning and engineering efforts and conducts field observations and data collection.Performs related duties as assigned to meet the needs of the city organization.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in Transportation Planning, Regional and Urban Planning, Public Administration, Public Policy or related field with a minimum of two years' experience in transportation planning or any equivalent combination of education and experience.Courteous and effective verbal and written communication skills.Demonstrated team player.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Master's degree in Urban Planning, or in a related field, can substitute for 2 years of experience.Knowledge and understanding of the community, including its geography, politics, interests, organizational characteristics, and laws.Familiarity with computers including, database and spreadsheet/software, Geographic Information Systems and the Adobe creative suite.Demonstrated flexibility, creativity, and innovation in previous work or educational pursuits.Additional Job Description: SUPERVISION
