General Summary: Principal analyst for all financial and project analytics related to the support of logistics merchandise flow. Analytics will include end-to-end costing alternatives of the supply chain, in-transit accounting variances, and financial and service trending analytics. Analyst will also serve as the principal architect of all reporting and the liaison to I.T. in development of systems.
Duties & Responsibilities: Business Analytics Analyze freight flow cost reduction opportunities by studying transportation rates at lane level, carrier commitments, transit times, and delivery performance Perform monthly analysis to understand future impacts to both contracts and expenses Assist leadership at annual contract negotiation with carriers, brokers, etc. by providing periodic updates of comparative rate studies at detailed level Conduct transit time and delivery performance studies of transportation flow by vendor location to identify opportunities in inventory reduction, or performance improvement Reporting & Tool Development Analyze and report all key financial indicators and trends. Identify potential gaps or opportunities in indicators, provide recommendations to leadership and implement new initiatives Design scorecards to monitor key business areas financial and delivery performance including business partner reviews Work with I.T. to automate manual processes Strategic Project Development Assist with planning and implementing cost savings initiatives such as consolidation programs, trailer fullness management and carrier rate negotiations Research and evaluate industry software designed to improve efficiencies in the Global Supply Chain Partner with domestic and international operations for continued process improvement opportunities Financial & Accounting Processes Perform month end in-transit functions including the reporting, auditing, and distribution of financial numbers Ensure all SOX documentation is maintained and business process are in compliance with company standards Establish and maintain budget processes, documentation, and variance reports Identify and process all claims and chargebacks associated to product flow for the operation Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong ability to evaluate transportation processes and systems and identify inefficiencies or opportunities for improvement. Strong ability to develop and implement innovative cost-effective solutions that eventually would allow for a more efficient and streamlined process. Ability to handle & prioritize multiple tasks, and responsibly ensure proper completion of tasks Strong ability to effectively communicate with both internal and external partners Strong proficiency in MS Excel spreadsheets and MS Access databases including ability to design templates, queries, tables, forms, and reports Strong ability to analyze and decipher significant amounts of data to develop insights and conclusions for the business Basic knowledge of general financial, and accounting principles Basic knowledge of merchandising, distribution, domestic transportation, and supply chain concepts Strong business acumen around the cost components of international flow of merchandise including cargo consolidation/deconsolidation operations Experience with Business Intelligence tools (Power BI, Tableau) Work Experience &/or Education Bachelor's degree in Business or Logistics preferred, or comparable experience of 3-5 performing analytical tasks for a retailer, manufacturing company, major carrier, or logistics company required. Experience with Blue Yonder TMS would be a plus Experience with P44 Tracking Software would be a plus Experience with 1010 Reporting Software would be a plus.
