Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from UMN Morris Successful relationships across the UMN campus to support student success Experience as a tribal and/or transfer college student Experience or coursework in Education, Native American and Indigenous Studies, Human Services, and/or Communications, Media, and Rhetoric Skills and experience in communication, public speaking, organization, program planning, and/or data management Background that includes overcoming barriers similar to those of participants
The position is also available as a SS Pro 2 8462AC for candidates with a BA degree + at least 2 years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and relevant work experience totaling 6+ years. The Transfer Pathway Navigator plays a key staff role in the UMN Morris US Dept. of Ed. supported Pathways to Success: Cooperative Program Development between UMN Morris and Minnesota Tribal Colleges project. The position helps build foundational transfer pathways, student services, support, and success working with Minnesota and regional community colleges. The Transfer Pathway Navigator reports to the Native American Student Success (NASS) Associate Director and works collaboratively with the Student Success Center team. This is a 100% time, 12 month, Civil Service position (8461AC - Student Services Professional 1, Student Advocacy and Support -or- 8462AC SS Pro 2)The position includes limited travel and some night and weekend hours.

A. Support new transfer students – 40%
Support new Transfer Students from admission through Orientation and Welcome Week. Maintain an up to date cohort log for all new transfer students Communicate with each admitted transfer student as a resource / conduit Participate in Admitted Student Days, New Student Orientation, and related events, connecting with each transfer student & family; share resources and opportunities Stay in regular contact with students after first meetings with check in texts/calls Ensure students are completing course registration, housing, American Indian Tuition Waiver applications, and making campus connections Plan and co-lead 2-3 Welcome Week transfer student gathering(s)/sessions. Support & connect with Native transfer students at NASS Extended Welcome Events 2. Support new transfer students' Fall Semester success
As student's success coach, learning about their histories, review student surveys and transcripts, facilitate individual meetings, and log student contacts / success plans Supervise Transfer Peer Mentor(s) in their connections with all new transfer students aligned with students' backgrounds and interests. Update New Transfer Student logs to align with official 10-day enrollment records Maintain an up to date new cohort log aligned with official 10-day enrollment records, with contacts, engagement, events, mentor contacts, benchmarks, & success measures
3. Assist with the new Transfer Student Morris 3002 Fall Course
Assist the Associate Director with course components, cohort building, and logistics Support students' campus engagement including participation in campus-wide programs and NASS cultural programs (i.e., cultural craft nights, ceremonies, elders- and aunties-in-residence series, mental health and wellbeing programs) 4. Support new transfer students who enter UMN Morris in Spring semester
5. Assist the Associate Director with planning and piloting a new transfer Student Summer Gateway Course in partnership with MN Tribal Colleges. Coordinate course logistics.

B. Support students on transfer pathways and continuing transfer students – 20%
Visit Tribal colleges as a representative of UMN Morris to help transferring students navigate options and processes, and plan for a successful transition to UMN Morris Work with Tribal/ community college, and UMM leaders to support transfer pathways Provides holistic support and advising to students throughout their college experience Support students experiencing academic difficulty, on probation, and/or suspension C. Support for Transfer pathway development and partnerships with Tribal Colleges and other Community Colleges – 10%
Assist in organizing UMN Morris teams traveling to Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College, Leech Lake Tribal College, Red Lake Nation College, and other community colleges (and hosting them) for planning meetings and transferring student connections Facilitate logistics for and dissemination of BA pathway materials supporting student persistence on new and continuing transfer pathways aligned with Articulation Agreements and Memorandums of Understanding Support related communication and understanding of new articulations / pathways Support project documentation (e.g. partner meeting agendas/notes, event photos, participation data), data keeping, and assessment. Use assessment to improve programs D. Engage in collaborative meetings, events, and partnerships – 10%
Engage in and contribute to staff meetings and professional development programs Attend a variety of campus programs and events to build community across units, support student and staff engagement, and gain knowledge of other units' work and services E. Provide NASNTI Pathways and Equity project administrative support – 20%
Assist and support project staff/implementation (e.g. related logistics such as ordering supplies, scheduling meetings, making travel arrangements, reserving rooms). Assist with events and cultural programs as needed and as determined by NASS staff Process financial transactions and monitor budget records with Grants Development. Assist with contracts for professional services and facilitating payment processes Assist in maintaining project databases, meeting agendas, notes, program records, and assessment data. Gather and assist in managing and analyzing project data and reporting Assist with college fairs, prospective student visits, and admissions support - (5% for one position; this area of effort is Institutionally funded and outside of the NASNTI project.)
