POSITION DESCRIPTION Position Title: Trailer Mechanic Department: Trailer shop Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor Classification: Non- Position Summary: The basic function of the Mechanic is to troubleshoot, clean, inspect, and maintain heavy and support equipment at the transfer station and material-recovery facilities safely and professionally.?
Essential Functions/Position Responsibilities: Function/Responsibility :
Perform annuals, air brakes, lights, etc. Some Welding or Willing to learn Maintain and repair various types of trailers and hydraulic systems . Work all assigned shifts from scheduled start time to scheduled end time Take an active role in the improvement of safety and health in the workplace Participate in all required Company meetings, including weekly safety meetings Other duties as assigned Supervisory Responsibilities: None Competencies: Ability to use a variety of vehicle maintenance tools Hand tools Electric tools Pneumatic tools Jacking equipment Safety stands Electronic testing equipment Ability to receive, understand, and follow oral and written instructions Ability to read and understand parts and service manuals Ability to prepare legible and understandable work orders and schedule completion sheets Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions Lifting moderate to heavy material is required. Hiring Requirements/Preferences: High school diploma or equivalent Drivers License/ CDL B a plus or willing to learn to get their CDL training ASE Certification Road calls Air Brakes Certification Demonstrated mechanical skills Must supply own tools 2 - 5 years of experience in a transportation environment ESTIMATE OF PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS PHYSICAL EFFORT RARELY (15%) OCCASIONAL (15% - 40%) FREQUENT (40% - 70%) CONTINUOUS (Over 70%) Lifting under 40 lbs.
