R&D Maintenance Services, Inc. provides operations and maintenance services on U.S Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) projects throughout the southeast - since 1980. We are the Operations and Maintenance Contractor for the Tennessee Tombigbee Waterway providing maintenance and repair services on several hundred miles of waterway, numerous facilities/recreations areas, and locks/dams/spillways on the system. EEO. Must pass drug screen, background and MVR checks. GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Tractor Operator operates a 70-100hp ag tractor in mowing, tree trimming, and cultivating/planting operations. This driver will load or unload truck with or without helpers, make minor mechanical repairs, and keep truck in good working order. Performs preventive and scheduled maintenance tasks necessary to keep machinery, equipment, and tools in proper working condition. ILLUSTRATIVE TASKS: Operates a 70-100hp ag tractor in mowing and trimming operations with a bushog, side boom, finish mower, flail mower, bat-wing, box blade, etc., and in maintenance operations with a blower, sprayer, box blade, etc.) Operates ag tractor (up to 100hp) with agricultural attachments (disc harrow, seed drill, cultivator, spreader, etc.) Responsible for maintaining safe work performance and conveying safe work procedures to employees under supervision. Keeps the Supervisor informed on project status. Operates vehicles and/or equipment in a safe and responsible manner. Inspects site to ensure safe environment to load and unload. Compliant with company and customer policies and safety procedures. Reports any accidents and/or injuries immediately. May supervise, coordinate, and/or direct the work of skilled and semi-skilled employees engaged in the operation of grounds maintenance equipment. Performs all required DOT inspections and complies with other regulatory DOT requirements by adhering to state and federal laws and regulations. Follows safety and security procedures and determines appropriate action. Reports potentially unsafe conditions and uses materials and equipment properly. Create documentation on services providing legible and accurate information. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to plan and organize daily assignments. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with employees, and superiors. Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of 100hp Ag tractor operation. Ability to demonstrate overall safe work behavior; including the utilization of proper safety equipment and adhering to safety guidelines. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: Must have five (5) years progressively responsible management level experience in tractor operation with a broad variety of implements/attachments. High School Diploma and formal training in Commercial truck driving. Current Class A CDL with no major moving violations in the last 8 years. No DUIs in last 10 years. Must have three (3) years of verifiable experience in Class 7-8 heavy hauling operations. Must pass background check, pre-employment drug/alcohol screening, and DOT physical. Must be able to operate a variety of Class 7-8 trucks/trailers and implements. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Frequent walking and standing; Frequent entry and exit up/down from cab of a Class 7-8 truck and entry and exit up/down from 70-100hp ag tractors. Heavy Work; Exerting up to 100 pounds for force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Good manual dexterity and frequent use of power and hand tools. Frequently lifts/carries up to 20 pounds with occasional lifting up to 50 pounds. Frequent use of arms and legs to operate machine controls. Frequent balancing, kneeling, reaching (full range) bending, handling, feeling, climbing, smelling and twisting; occasional crawling and reaching; working in cramped and confined spaces; frequent climbing up/down to operator station. Vision, speech, smell and hearing sufficient to maintain required licensing and perform essential tasks and safe performance. Occasional overtime. Occasional overnight stays.
